Well, now we know. This is definitely not a place I'd go to again. We felt very unsafe. We were in town for my son's homecoming at a local school and thought this would be a good close-by option. My husband likes to gamble recreationally and we thought he'd enjoy the experience.
First the basics. I wish there was a better way to check in to the hotel than walking through a sea of smokers and gamblers. I felt like I ate a cigarette after walking through the haze. Check in was average. Once they learned my daughter was underage, we were told there were things we couldn't do. Couldn't eat at the restaurants, or get breakfast as they were both in the casino area. We could bring the food to our room if we wanted to. The room itself was clean, the only reason I gave two stars. The towels were tiny, made for children. I know, small detail.
Now onto the reasons I say it's unsafe. Both times we went to our room on the elevator we had uncomfortable encounters.
The first time up, a woman rode up with us. When we got off, the woman was following us. At first I thought she was going to her room. But then I stopped and pretended I was going into a room other than ours because she was walking very close to us in an unusual way. When I stopped I turned to look right at her. She then acted as if she was lost. "I can't read these (bleeping) signs. Then kept muttering and swearing, making her way back to the elevators. Once she left and was out of our line of sight, we went to our room.
The second encounter was much more concerning. My daughter and I got on the elevator and a man beelined it to get on with us. We had already pressed the floor that we were going on. He didn't push a button so I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was on our floor. The entire ride up he was staring at my daughter. It was very odd. Upon reaching our floor, he held out his arm to let us off. I told him to go first and he wouldn't move. I had my daughter go ahead of me and followed her out. He then didn't get off, instead stayed on the elevator. The entire interaction is hard to explain, but it made us both feel like he had ulterior motives.
When we were leaving we noticed be aware of "human trafficking" signs plastered on the doors.
Needless to say we will never be going back to this hotel.
