Description: Steve and Michelle Corry, the proprietors of Five Fifty-Five, arrived in Portland armed with a passionate vision and extensive experience in the restaurant industry. Steve began his culinary career as a brew master at several breweries in Northern California. In 1999, he attended the New England Culinary Institute in Burlington Vermont. After graduating in 2001, he returned to California to work at Domaine Chandon in Napa Valley. A graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Michelle Corry has worked at numerous prestigious establishments, including the French Laundry in Napa. Together, they have envisioned a dining experience that would combine a comfortable atmosphere, professional service, and fresh, simple, and delicious food sourced locally. Steve and Michelle Corry would like to welcome you to their first collaborative, Five Fifty-Five.

Over Valentines Day weekend, we tried the tasting menu (and the wine pairing). The five-course dinner was delicious. Our waiter was very helpful and helped us find the right wine for each course. The tables in the main dining room are a bit close to each other and the lighting isn’t great (you feel like you’re sitting under a spotlight); so, ask to sit upstairs.

Thank you for your feedback! We will take a look at the lighting immediately- I am a stickler for the correct lighting, so I know exactly how you feel!

I've always been hesitant to do menus that have a wine pairing because I don't like red wine, however they were able to tailor this wine pairing to my exact taste. Not only was every course amazing, but the wine that was paired with each course complimented the food perfectly!

We ordered the duck and salmon, as well as the salad greens. The salad was good, as well as the duck. The salmon was average. Also, there was too much squid ink on the salmon plate. Just a side note, why do restaurants seat parties so close together when the whole rest of the restaurant is open?

If I could rate 3 1/2, I would’ve.

What a great spot. Our last night in Portland and when they say ‘save the best for last...’ Wow, I think we did.

I have to be fair to my other favorite new finds in the Portland area but this place is kind of in its own category... CREATIVE

Kudos to the chef for such an interesting menu, you can clearly see there was a lot of creative thought put into this.

The atmosphere is great for dates and groups and the service was awesome... these guys know their stuff.

From the hostess seating us to the server knowing every ingredient to the presentation of the dish... outstanding!

You guys are amazing and for sure are in the top few great spots for the real foodie in anyone... you’ll try stuff just to see how cool it comes out of the kitchen!

Thanks! See you next time I’m up that way!
