This is a real hidden gem. It's set well back from Route 1, and was once an oceanfront park and dance hall back around the turn of the century. Now, it's a rustic hideaway, with 15 cabins and a motel style building converted from the dance hall. The experience is really part motel, part camping, with the slight smell of mold in the rooms and the tiny bathrooms only adding to the charm. We stayed in cabin 9, one of the largest rooms available. It had a full kitchenette, two seperate bedrooms, and a nice sitting area with a table and a daybead. Furnishings are original, funky and way cool. The grounds are spacious and well landscaped, with ocean views everywhere. Loungers are set up along the cliffs, so grab your favorite novel and take it all in. Every cabin has its own firepit, and wood is provided. Your fellow guests will likely be friendly, so don't be surprised if you are invited to an impromptu get together. Eight or so of the cabins overlook a private beach, which is accessable to all through a stairway. There are also firepits set up on the beach. It's basically a do it yourself kind of place, but the staff is willing to help when asked. Watch the lowest priced cabins, they look very small from the outside. All in all, this is a great value and, most importantly, is totally, completely unique. Why would you ever stay in a chain motel when there are places like this around?
