Review of The Bankery

The Bankery
Ranked #1 of 4 Dessert in Skowhegan
Description: The Bankery, located in the old 1864 bank building on Water Street in Skowhegan, ME, is a traditional, from-scratch bakery. We use only high quality, all natural ingredients and specialize in wedding cakes, occasion cakes, and fine baked goods including breads, pies, and pastries. The owners preserved the personality of the original bank, restoring the vaults and displaying antique advertisements, safety deposit boxes, photos, and other nostalgic memorabilia. When visiting Historic Downtown Skowhegan, we invite you to stop by and see what The Bankery has to offer

We have been driving by for some time now and finally stopped in to check it out. Sure glad we did! Wish we could have sampled it all but ended up taking a couple treats home: cake pop, choc. dipped brownie & Paris Brest. All were wicked good and I'm sure we'll stop in again. This place is an oasis n central Maine. It was also cool to watch some of the staff decorate the cakes.

This is the second time I've reviewed The Bankery, but I only recently discovered the vegetable lasagna! This is a great last-minute meal when you don't have time to cook. The small is perfect for the 2 of us. It's frozen, and pops right into the oven. Make a salad and in an hour, it's dinner! Lots of cheese and good veggies. The pasta is tender and the sauce is delicious, too. Highly recommended. (And get some cookies for dessert!)

Love the white chocalate raspberry scones, cookies, cakes, and coffee. I stop by to bring treats to the office or family.

Some GF options, often just Macaroons, but sometimes more.
Fantastic single serve cakes and pops as well as muffins and cookies.
They also serve quiche, various fresh baked pies and breads, etc.
If you have never been-GO! Just to see the vault of the old bank used as the walk in freezer or store room.

This place is the bomb for fresh baked goods and cookies. It is the perfect sweet tooth place to go after lunch or for coffee in the morning with a donut. Nice atmosphere and in a quaint building. Definitely a must stop if you're in SKowhegan.
