Owner description: Come experience our working Maine farm winery continuing an over 200 year old family farming tradition. We make our wines from the grapes grown in our vineyard as well from Maine wild blueberries grown in our fields. While you are here enjoy the views as you explore the grounds. Have your lunch in the vineyard, you might be lucky enough to see our resident hawk soaring overhead looking for a tasty treat.

Come meet the cows, admire the renovated barn, walk the fabulous stone wall... and oh yes, there's wine! A bit of construction marred the tasting room on our visit but no worries, our host was pleasant and we enjoyed the tasting enough to come home with a few bottles. Blueberry, of course. It is Maine.... right?

While not a fancy winery, this little place has nice wines and staff. The place is a post and beam barn office construction. The 3 dollar charge for 6 wines is very , very reasonable. They have several gift items as well. Not too hard to find.

Beautiful location. The Tasting Room is quaint with a nice atmosphere. They have a great selection of wines with most of the grapes grown on site. Guests are encouraged to view the vineyards. Our hostess was wonderful...very mellow, friendly and knowledgable. Not a bad wine in the bunch. We selected a few bottles to take home and a few gift items. Prices are reasonable.

We were in the Union area after returning for Owl's Head lighthouse and read about Savage Oaks Winery on the internet. We decided to stop and what a little jewel this winery is. They offer several different wine varieties made from their grapes and other local products. We enjoyed a free wine tasting and decided to take a couple of bottles of blueberry wine home with us. The young man that was attending the store was very knowledgeable and friendly. They also offer some great concerts this summer on their property including Graham Nash and Lyle Lovett. If you are traveling in the area you should stop and visit this winery treasure tucked into the countryside of rural Maine.

I make a special drive out to Union just to visit and pick up some wine. I enjoy supporting local craftsmen. Their wines are the equal of or superior to wines from more well-known wine regions. The owners are great people. It's fun to sit at the tasting bar and have a conversation. Heck, they even have a wicked friendly old black lab as a greeter.

Everyone's palate is different. As much as I enjoy Savage Oaks wines, I urge you to go out there yourself. Have some sips, a pleasant conversation, and pat a very laid back dog. You'll have a good time that you'll relive when you open your bottle.
