When we toured Jefferd’s Tavern and the museum Jeff was our guide once again. He remembered who we were from the day before and talked about where we were from and things he remembered about us. We love when locals are friendly and get the time to get to know you. We toured the museum then Jefferd’s tavern. Its amazing pieces of history survived this long. Some of those buildings are the oldest in our country being nearly 300 years old like the old gaol. The tavern appeared to have most of the original panes of wavy glass in the windows. Just like other museums no pictures are allowed on inside.

This building is part of the historic buildings in York that one can explore. Jefferd's Tavern is a great building to see how a old tavern was set up. There are many original pieces of furniture inside also.

The Town of York has many historic sites and this is one of the most interesting. Can just walk around inside this 1700's building and feel the sense of what had been.

The Jefferds Tavern serves as the Welcome Center and Museum for the Museums of Old York. The museum does a nice job of capturing local history and has a few real gems in its collection. In combination with other houses, MOY is an excellent way to spend a day looking back to colonial times.
