When we looked up the hotel they promoted Romantic couple spot for the off season. I called and explained we were on the last leg of a honeymoon road trip and they failed to mention that their restaurant and poolside cafe were closed the first of our stay. The Anex building was under major construction and even though it was obvious the Place was less than 20% booked they tried to keep it convenient for the maids they put all rooms next to each other. No one was out of control but honestly if they weren’t in the room next to us it would have been much more relaxing to not hear their music. They care more about bookings and their own convenience than customers comfortably.

Hi Kelly W,

We're sorry you were disappointed with your stay. Our restaurant and cafe are seasonal-the cafe is open midweek in the mornings and in the evenings on Friday and Saturday until the summer begins. We have our restaurant hours on their website (sunandsurfyork.com)-they are open Friday through Sunday as the website states, but we invite any guests that have questions about any of the hours to reach out to us . We're always happy to share this information with guests.

The Atrium building had construction on one side of the building (to the exterior only-we redid balconies, windows and siding). Any guests that wanted to move to the front main building had that option. We want our guests to be happy and comfortable and certainly do not need to put all rooms next to each other to accommodate housekeeping or any employees for that matter. Certain room types ( a single king bed that you were in for example) are located in only one part of the building (front 2 rooms on each floor in the atrium for the most part), as most rooms in the atrium building have 2 queens. We have staff on 24 hours to accommodate any guests needs, so if you would like to have no one next to you, just let us know, we can move you to another room. Especially if we are not full this is really easy to do, just let us know. We are required to book the room type requested, but if you want to move to another type we are always happy to do this, we just need to know.

Thank you,
The Anchorage Inn

We recently stayed at the Anchorage Inn after finding a great deal on Travelzoo. It is located right across the street from the beach, so you can't beat the view. The rooms are average hotel size with more recent updates of new carpet, granite countertop, and bedding. We stayed in the main building where the hallways are exterior so if you open your curtains to see the ocean there are other guests walking right outside your room. There is the more expensive option of the suites where you would have more privacy. Also, the rooms are not very sound proof, so can hear footsteps above and voices in rooms next door. A capital improvement project that management may want to consider would be to add insulation between rooms and floors.

Room Tip: Suites are more expensive but much more private.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Anchorage Inn.The room was very clean and roomy. The bed was comfortable and had plenty of storage space. The only drawback in the room was there is no heater in the bathroom. So unless you are taking a shower or bath with the red light on,it is freezing in the middle of the night when you have to use the bathroom. The area is close to everything and right across from the beach which is nice, but the restaurant that they advertise that is across from the property called the surf and turf is not open unless you are there on the weekend. Also the cafe they advertise that is on the property is very small with only 2-3 tables, and the inn has 200 + rooms.
I WOULD highly recommend this Inn,but I just think that it should be known that the surf and turf is only opened at the week's end. AND the cafe does not accommodate more than 2-3 family's to be seated at a time.

Had a great time only a couple little snags. But over all had a great stay. The view was fantastic from our room.
Would concider going again. Easy to get to. Right on Rt.1A. One word of caution. If you walk the beach at low tide around the rocks. Keep an eye on the tide. They change quickly.

We have been loyal visitors of the Anchorage Inn for many years - typically visiting more than 6-7 times each year. We love it. But recently, we've had two untimely and unfortunate events and discovered that there appears to be absolutely no leniency to the cancellation policy. Last month, I booked an adjoining room for my mother just one week prior to our arrival. Three days before our trip, mom received a call about a friend who was very sick and might not survive the night, She flew out immediately to be with him. The room was only reserved by us for a couple days, and even though another family was already occupying the room when we arrived, and the fact that mom’s friend didn't survive, we were told that we still had to pay for the first night's deposit. Then again this past weekend, we had reservations to return to the Anchorage. Friday morning, my husband had a severe diabetic reaction and was taken (unresponsive) by ambulance to the hospital. Needless to say, we couldn't get there that day. Once again - we were told that we would lose the first night’s deposit. Due to their lack of empathy and a strictly enforced 10 day cancellation policy - we are now looking for alternative lodging and sadly leaving behind the Anchorage Inn that we've affectionately called our 'vacation home' for years.
