Howard Johnson Inn Ocean City Oceanfront

We stayed there for a week. I was told it was an ocean front room.....yeah right! Get into the room, the door opens to a stoned area between HJ's and the next hotel, the patio door opens to the pool! Where was the ocean? Not to be found (at least to see). If we walked down 2 hallways, down a small set of steps and a walk up the ramp to the boardwalk....then we were ocean front! Room was small, not updated in a long time. We will not ever stay there again! eard there were bedbugs there, we did not have any problem with them at all. First couple of days pool was dirty, sand over the bottom, finaly Wednesday morning the pool was vacuumed. For what we paid per night could have stayed in a nicer hotel in Myrtle Beach cheaper!

Room Tip: Not sure there is a best room here!

Spent 3 nights here with our 3 older children. It was a perfect location, still on the boardwalk but away from the craziness. Wish there was a little more to do closer by but its only a 15 minutes walk to a cute little outside bar along the boardwalk and the tram will easily take you to the pier for games and rides.
Beautiful view from the private balcony, nice size rooms with a microwave and refrig, as well as glasses, cups and silverware. Room was clean although I wished the beds were queen sized instead of just doubles.
Staff was very helpful and friendly! Pool was great with wonderful chaises all around for taking in the sun.

Room Tip: Premier Oceanfront rooms have a private balcony with direct views of the beach and ocean

Our stay at Howard Johnson, 24th Street, just mediocre. The rugs were filthy; our white socks were black from walking around. The pool’s lounge chair mats were worn and in need of replacement. The blonde lady, who was some sort of a manager, was rude to guests and employees. One morning she was outside the office, poolside, screaming at employees to put a rollaway bed into a room. Ten minutes later, she’s at that room, to inspect whether it was put into the room. The hotel is way past its prime for the price they charge for the rooms. We will consider other accommodations next year.

The Howard Johnson hotel was rated a # 3 star hotel... What a joke... The air conditioner didn't work, the room smelled like mode, and when we walked in the room the rugs were so dirty that our feet were black.... But the worst thing of all was when my #2 year old ask mommy what is that in the pool.. " a condom". This was the first time we ever stand at a so called #3 star hotel and the last... Disappointed Philly family....

The first floor room overlooked the boardwalk, which was nice. The first morning, very early I might add, someone was BANGING on our sliding glass door and woke us up. When we answered the door, the man just walked away saying nothing !?!
The a/c was okay, but could have been cooler. The bath was small, but functional.
We had a frig and microwave, but didn't use them.
We stayed a week, and when we needed clean towels, after the second and third day of using the same ones,we had to ask for them, along with rolls of toilet tissue. The room had NOT BEEN CLEANED and when we returned in the evening, our beds still weren't made . On the fourth day, the maid came in and we were sitting on the front patio, she asked "IF WE WANTED OUR ROOM CLEANED!" I said , "YES!!!!" so she looked around and obviously didn't see the sand we drug in and came back and asked "if we wanted our beds made too! DUH!?! I told her we also needed clean towels....when I came into the room, I found them laying on the bed, not hanging in the bathroom. She NEVER cleaned our room or bathroom, just picked up our dirty towels, made the bed (half) and left the towels. I thought daily housekeeping meant....DAILY CLEANING! We will not stay there again....we found cheaper hotels in the area that gave better service.

We arrived a day early for our vacation and needed to find a room for the night. This place offered us what they called "an ocean front suite"! The price was more than waht we wanted to spend ($400.00 for one night), but we thougth we would live it up a little with a nice room. Wow, were we in for a big surprise! First, there is only one evelator even for the maid service. So trying to get an evelvator can take a very long time. Then we finally get to our room and it was just nothing like we expected. The bathrooms were only big enough to fit one person at a time and even that was pushing it. There was a used bottle of mouthwash in the bathroom. That is just unacceptable and gross! The carpets were filthy. The air conditioner didn't really work and each room had it's own air conditioner over the door so outside was very noisy. There was a sleeper sofa but we pulled it out for our kids and I couldn't even kneel on it because it was so flimsy and it hurt. The beds in our so called suite were only double beds. My husband is 6'1" - He takes up a whole bed to himself. These are just a few of the many things wrong with this hotel!! I will never ever ever stay there again.

I would not recommend anyone booking in advance to stay here. They tell you one thing and then when its time you get there and check in they give you what room they have left and tell you your reservation was for what they make of it and say thats what they had in their computer from your reservation. The service was very poor. The maid skipped our room two of the four days we stayed there. When we told them about it they said the maids left and there was nothing else they could do and to come down and get new towels. The manager was very rude when I checked in and told them they made a mistake with our reservation even after I showed him our confirmation number of what room we were supposed to have. Besides the hotel everything else was awesome the boardwalk, food and attractions were alot of fun especially the beach if I ever go again I will make sure I stay at a better hotel.
