Location, Location, Location! That’s why we love it here!!! We’ve stayed here many times over the last decade. With two floors and only 48 rooms at this motel, you could say it’s quaint. There is a pool, an outdoor shower (to wash sand off your feet), stairs/elevator, soda machines, ice machine and the front office has a coffee Keurig and a vending machine stocked with goodies! At the Rideau, the ocean front balcony rooms have the most beautiful sunrise views! My boyfriend and I are up half the night enjoying all that Ocean City has to offer. Before getting some shuteye we hang out on the balcony so that we can listen to the ocean waves. It’s so calming, sometimes we fall asleep out there only to be awoken by the seagulls laughing as they scavenge the boardwalk in the early morning hours. That deliriously happy screech wakes us up just in time to catch a glimpse of the glorious beacon in the sky. Before heading inside to crash on the bed to drift back off, we enjoy the awesome sunrise. The Rideau is so close to everything and within walking distance to Piezano’s Pizza, Dunkin Donuts, Sassy Beachwear, Dolle’s Candyland, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, The Inlet, The Pier, Golden Plate...and Guido’s Burritos is right below the motel! If people watching is your thing you’ll feel like champions! There’s so many amusing spectacles all day/night long on the boards....Location, Location, Location! That’s why we love it here!!! It’s also a hop, skip and a jump to the beach! Traveling in the year of the Coronavirus pandemic sure has it’s challenges. We definitely over packed for this trip by bring items to make the room feel more like home. Our coffee Keurig and k-cups kept us out of the coffee shops to help us practice social distancing. We brought two 24 packs of bottled water, an 8 pack of Gatorade and a 12 pack of Pepsi. I cooked hamburgers & hotdogs before we left home. I packed them in a thermal cooler with ice packs and transferred them to the fridge at the motel once it was thoroughly cleaned. We also brought rolls, buns, ketchup, mustard, chips, dip and other yummies to keep our room stocked. It limited us to dining at local eateries to once-a-day. We brought a gallon size ziplock bag of brand new medical grade masks for use in retail stores and for foot travel along the boardwalk. We packed 7 travel size hand sanitizers with us....better prepared than panicked. We also brought enough cleaning supplies that would have lasted us for two months. Haha! Just when you think a room is clean...it’s amazing what kind of dirt and grime are stuck to surfaces! We wiped down all high traffic areas in the room to include; doorknobs, dresser counter top, drawer pulls, nightstand, sink/counter, the commode, shower faucet, light switches, the ac/heater controls, tv remote, the plastic patio chairs, table and the balcony railing. I Used dish washing liquid & water to clean the microwave...smelled like the devil’s lettuce in there! Used sanitizing wipes to clean the refrigerator handle and wipe down all the shelves. We sprayed all windows and mirrors in the room with Windex Multi-surface disinfectant cleaner. Wiped them down until they were streak & grime free. Fun fact for ya: Coronavirus can live up to 5 days on glass surfaces... yikes!!! A year ago there was wall to wall carpeting in the rooms, now they have wood laminate. An upgrade for sure! Much nicer! A little four foot closest area helped keep our luggage tidy. We opted to leave our do not disturb sign on our door as a prevention. We were very Coronavirus cautious because we know case in this county are higher due to tourism. When we needed extra towels we found housekeeping on our own and excepted them in person outside the room. The Rideau’s pool is located by the parking lot which seemed marginally occupied by multiple families everyday. It looked as though they thoroughly enjoyed their aquatic experience! We made our way down to the beach everyday. We enjoyed our wide open spaces away from heavily populated areas. We always have a relaxing stay here and I highly recommend packing up for a delightful vacation at the Rideau Motor Inn!More
