“Wonderful Time & Great Memories"”
Reviewed 20 August 2011

My daughter and I spent four wonderful days and nights at the Old Brick Inn. We had a delightful time in the Kemp House (the Monarch's Landing Room) which was small in size but large nonetheless in comfort and peacefulness. I throughly enjoyed the porch outside our room for my secluded reading area. We spent our last night in the Carriage House's Scarlett Room, big in grandeur and more modern but not as quiet as the Kemp House. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the nicest surprise were the wonderful breakfasts of mouth-watering fruits with yogurt, blueberry pancakes and peach waffles that melted on the mouth's palate, not to mention Eggs Benedict on oversize pieces of country ham. Needless to say, we went for three days and had such a wonderful time in the area decided to stay an extra night. For the price, you will be pleasantly surprised.

How wonderful that you were able to experience two different rooms- the experience they bring and two of our buildings while you were here with us this summer! We appreciate the kind and descriptive review of our breakfasts as well. It's great to learn that you enjoyed your stay so much and we hope you and your daughter will return again- to try out some of our other 18 rooms!!

My wife and I spent two nights at the Old Brick Inn right on Talbot St and we loved the place! Our breakfasts were excellent and the folks at the Inn were very accommodating. We will be back and I would very much recommend the Old Brick Inn to friends.

We just got back from a lovely weekend in St. MIchaels. After much debate on where to stay, we ended at the Old Brick Inn in the Tuscan Nights room. The room was a lot larger than the website implied--those pictures do not do it justice. It was the perfect retreat---we had a great whirlpool tub, our room was quiet and private, delcious gourmet breakfast every morning. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was spotless--very clean. In fact, this building didn't even really appear to be that old. I loved the location; you are very close to walk down to the waterfront and are right in the center of town. We were very impressed by The Old Brick Inn and have already recommended it to others. We will be back!

Room Tip: Stayed in the Tuscan Nights room on the first floor-very quiet and private. Worth the $$. A lot larg...

Stayed here for 5 nights end of Jul-Aug 2011. Old Brick is made up of 3 buildings with 2 adjacent to each other and one 2 short blocks away. We stayed in the Birds of Paradise room which is a small cottage behind the Kemp House which is the 2 blocks away building. The cottage was nice in that it was away from Talbot St which fronted the property and is the main street in town with plenty of traffic. The cottage is essentially a room with a bath. When you walk into the room you are greeted with a king size bed which took up most of the space. There was an electric fireplace in the corner which is used to provide heat in the winter. Small closet with only 5 hangers for the both of us. Ample drawer space for folded clothes. The bathroom was new with a jacuzzi and rainshower coming out of the ceiling. You had to climb into the jacuzzi to take a shower which was bothersome. Maid service was limited to changing towels every day and making the bed. There was no cleaning of any kind during our stay. A window air conditioner typical of most B&B's ran the entire time we were there. Room decor was island style keeping with the name but totally out of place with the rest of the Inn which was more Colonial. Breakfast ran until 9:30 during the week and 10:30 on weekends which boggled my mind. Do they not realize that when you are on vacation every day is a weekend. As a result we had to get up earlier to walk up to the main house for the weekday breakfast. My wife thought the breakfast was fine but I felt it lacked imagination. Scrambled eggs 3 of the 5 days. I don't care what sides are added it is still scrambled eggs. The same muffins and pastries all week and they were commercial at best. Probably picked them up at the Acme down the street. Afternoon refreshments were provided and again no imagination. Two types of cake which alternated days, lemon on Friday and chocolate on Sat, etc. The staff always had a problem with someone not showing up or late and it showed by the service provided. We got a good, not great, rate so that eased the discomfort somewhat. Would I stay here again, don't know.

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms in the building adjacent to the main house. It is around the corner and away f...

We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We really thought you we enjoying your time with us very much. We do take exception to several items you did comment on; Our baked products are made here; we do not go to the local supermarket. Our baked goods are made by a professional Chef; so they do look "commercial", and by this we mean - professionally prepared and finished to look uniform. We make many varieties of scones and muffins, along with fresh fruit spreads, most of our guests thoroughly enjoy them, even purchasing some to take home with them.
We offer breakfast at the hours we do, based upon our years of experience. Our guests tend to like to be out and about by mid morning, so we serve during this time. Our weekend hours are extended to accommodate everyone.
Regarding your comments on our housekeeping policies, we do daily refreshes of the rooms for our guests staying over. This includes; making of the bed, refreshing of towels, and light cleaning. In the many conversations we had with you, while you were here with us, you never mentioned you felt your room was not being cleaned properly. Please keep in mind, we are an enviornmentally conscious Inn and we operate as such. However we consider changes to our policies when deemed necessary.
We do appreciate your comments and we do strive to make everyones stay memorable and enjoyable. Innkeepers

Our stay was several nights. Our room was more than adequate. The room (rainforest) had character with aged its furniture and paneling. Our view of Talbot Street gave a bustling downtown feel of St. Michaels proper. A front porch passes under our room’s window so when we needed more privacy was simply closed the interior dormers. Each morning, we were treated to a breakfast delicately prepared by the Staff. On a given morning we were served coffee, OJ, muffins, bread along with eggs meat combination in quiche form. We did not take advantage of the pool. This was our first Bed and Breakfast experience. We had some reservations prior to selecting B&B for our stay in St. Michaels. All of our preconceived notions were eliminated during and after our stay at The Old Brick Inn. We recommend The Old Brick Inn for its attention to detail, its knowledgeable staff, and its practical location. Our one issue we have with The Old Brick Inn is that they do not provide bicycles to their guests for use. Watching folks pedal around the village had us yearning to join in. There is a bike rental shop at the end of Mulberry Street, but multiple B&Bs offer this service to their guests. On our return trip to St. Michaels we will need to bring our own bicycles or pay up to $40 ($20 per person) a day for this service.

My wife and I wanted to have a little "escape" weekend and booked the Old Brick Inn. This was our first time there. We were more than pleased with the entire experience. GREAT location; modern rooms and amenities, yet with a touch of class. We sometimes hesitate with B&B's because of the forced mingling with other guests as well as the hosts. There was none of that here. However, the entire staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. The pool was available 24/7, there were snacks and complimentary beverages (including wine) available all day. The staff was unobtrusive while being attentive to our needs. Overall, it was a very relaxing, comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

This is our fourth stay at the Old Brick Inn this year. Each time we stayed in a different room and each time had a wonderful experience. The staff are always friendly and attentive - like old friends. The breakfast always very good - from interesting French toast with baked pears to crab eggs benedict. Melissa's cinnamon caramel bread pudding is to die for. The wine dinner (march/april 2011) cooked by the chef from Jules was incredible. Always a great place to stay and unwind. Thanks!!

Room Tip: This is the place to stay in St. Michaels.
