As per our written instructions for check in at The Villages at the Ocean Edge Resort, we arrived at The White House only to find it closed. So on to The Mansion. While our party (four ladies celebrating a birthday) were hoping for an early check-in, especially since it was pouring rain, when we got in we were disappointed at the condition of our unit. Number 18 Endicott in The Villages, was exactly what we needed size wise, except, the lobby smelled musty, the carpets were dirty, the furniture was soiled, and the dining and coffee tables were stained and scratched. The kitchen was poorly stocked;1 dish towel, no oven mitts and horror of horrors, no wine opener! I won't even elaborate on the $50 resort fee, although we were given access to the beach which we visited in spite of the rain and unseasonable cold June temperatures. And all of this for $425 a night plus resort fee and taxes!
On the plus side, we had lunch at Linx Tavern which was reasonable and our server was a delightful young lady from Eastern Europe. Also, we found the pizza at Bayzo's Pub was definitely worth the visit.
The grounds at the resort are beautifully maintained. And if you are on a golf vacation, Ocean Edge may be just what you are looking for. However, we found unit #18 Endicott in the Villages far below our standards.More
