Peddler’s is open Thursday-Saturday nights only, and seasonal. Excellent food hidden just off 6A by the Brewster Book Shop on Thad Ellis Road. No reservations, and only Amex or cash. Getting in can be hit and miss given the schedule, but well worth it when you do. A nice cozy atmosphere; like you could be in the French countryside somewhere, with a small bar that sits 5 people, no food at the bar, but a good place to wait for a table. Better odds if you are a couple; or 4 max. Small operation with the chef and his wife who runs the front, and a small staff, but they are very efficient and move things along well. Regular menu and blackboard specials. Real French food as a main theme. We always love the pate campagne and onion soup. Delicious chicken dish, and always a tasty bolognese. Reasonable wine list.

Limited menu choices enhance the quality of your selection.
It was a welcome change from fried and breaded waterfront holiday seafood to discover light fresh french food prepared to a high standard and with passion.
Bring an appetite or a willing sharing partner to ensure that you get to sample both the garlic snails and the speciality dessert of caramelised banana's flambed in rum and poured hot in a sweet sauce over vanilla ice cream.
A must Brewster locals and holiday makers alike ( with the added bonus of very pleasant service in a family run establishment)

Warning: Only cash and American Express accepted!!! The food was delicious, we had flavorful Escargot, and scrumptious Onion Soup for appetizers - for Entrees - the Sole is the best we ever had and the Duck L’Orange was out of this world!! Our Mas De La Dame bottle was excellent!! Banana Foster for desert yummy!! Service with a smile is not part of the experience. Our waitress, owner of the restaurant with her husband the chef, doesn’t make you feel very welcome. However these few shortcomings won’t stop us from going back for the food!

We first went to the Peddlar maybe 8 years ago on the suggestion of the innkeeper where we were staying.
We return each year. The place is that good.
A husband and wife team, chef and server, in the classic French restaurant approach.
Chef owner, small, 30 seats or so, hand crafted, top quality dishes, prepared and served with personal and professional pride.
They close for the season next weekend so you will have to wait till 2018 to sample this classic bistro, but definitely add it to your things to do on the Cape.
And bring cash. They only take AMEX and greenbacks
