My mom and I stayed this past weekend in the Blue Mist Cottage. Beautiful cottage suite steps away from the main inn. We had wonderful spa treatments when we arrived and then enjoyed dinner in the Tavern. Service and overall amenities were excellent as usual! I can't get enough of this place and will be back in mid November!

We've just returned from our second mid-October trip to Cape Cod and the Chatham Bars Inn - and like last year - our stay there was wonderful. We stay in the Main Inn in an ocean view room and we love the location. The rooms might be considered small by some standards but we don't think so; there is a hugh dressing room so all our stuff is stored away. The rooms open up to an outside area (porch? deck?) which is full of comfy chairs and tables and we spend a lot of time there. In addition, there is a wonderful veranda which runs along the front of the hotel and plenty of chairs around the property so you can sit and enjoy a meal, afternoon tea or just relax, stare at the water and read. But back to the room. In addition to the dressing room, there is a nice sized bathroom with a little closet in which to put your toiletries, etc. It's a very civilized way to live and I really enjoy not looking at all our junk spread out all over a hotel room.

CBI is actually located on Pleasant Bay and the ocean is beyond a spit of land so you can enjoy the tranquility of the Bay or ride up to Lighthouse Beach and enjoy the ocean. We always spend a couple of mornings or afternoons at Lighthouse Beach; this year we walked about 3 hours one afternoon and saw 11 other people. If you go at low tide, you walk out on the sandbars and the seals will follow your every move. (There are A LOT of seals at Chatham). We always walk down to the fish pier when the boats come in and check out the catch of the day - usually a lot of fish and a lot of lobsters. There are always 6 or 7 seals hanging out around the boats and everyone seems to enjoy watching their antics.

The village is within walking distance and it's always nice to spend an afternoon checking out the shops - especially the book stores and art galleries.

It's always good to get back to the Inn though. It is very old and not the place for you if you like modern and stark. It's very comfortable & cozy and the staff is very warm and helpful. I never want to leave and am already planning our next trip.

We love Cape Cod (although you couldn't pay us to be there in the summer with all the people) and always spend a couple of days checking out other places and beaches there before checking into CBI. Once we get there, we never want to leave. It's just so low key and relaxing to get away from everything and everybody; we can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: The Main Inn ocean front rooms are hard to beat. The sunrises are spectacular.

To Whom It May Concern,

My family has spent the last several Christmas Holidays at CBI. The location of this hotel is spectacular! It is within walking distance to town and shopping or to Lighthouse beach.

The accomodations are five star, each room decorated beautifully--elegant yet comfortable. The staff and the service is impeccable. The girls at the reception desk are always pleasant and helpful. Susan the manager, was alwways able to help us solve problems no matter how big or how small.

The food, whether eating from room service, at the Tavern or in the dining room was always perfectly served and was delicious!

My family and I would definitely recommend CBI for a quintessential Cape Cod Vacation any time of the year.

Room Tip: The cottage suites are beautiful, like having your own private retreat.

I attended a 3-day group function in mid-October 2011. We stayed in the spacious beachfront "Day Break" cottage, on the second floor with deck overlooking the ocean - just beautiful! Suite had gas fireplace both in sitting room and in bedroom; just flip a switch and voila - a cozy fire! Cottage was well-appointed, from wonderful Tempurpedic beds and soft cotton sheets, to flatscreen TV in both sitting room and bedroom. Bathroom was nicely finished in tile, with bathtub (probably too small for most people) and a luxurious rain shower. Towels are not thick and soft, as I would have expected at an exclusive hotel, but hardly worth mentioning in the scheme of things.

Internet costs $10/day and I feel that should be free at all high-end hotels (not just this one). During our stay, several different groups were meeting and the hotel closed off certain areas at times, which might be objectionable to some "non-group" guests.

We ate lunch twice at the hotel's Sacred Cod tavern, which was extremely overpriced ($28 for cobb salad with some lobster on it), but the food was quite good (try the fish and chips!). We ate breakfast buffet twice at the main restaurant off the lobby, and that had a great selection of standard American breakfast fare, not to mention an unbeatable view of the water. Both eateries offered fresh-brewed iced tea, which is a favorite of ours.

To a person, the staff was friendly and went out of their way to help - this includes manager, servers, front desk staff, valets, gift shop staff and the conference coordinator, Mary Ryan, who is a delight.

The only thing that would have improved my experience is that the outer door of the cottage (not our room door) closing mechanism be fixed, so it doesn't slam shut and jar the entire cottage every time someone enters/exits; I found that disturbing throughout the stay (esp when it woke me up), but I'm not sure it would annoy anyone else.

Room Tip: Splurge for a beachfront cottage - they may be a little further away from the main inn, but it's...

First time here, partly as response to reading Trip Advisor reviews. Loved our King Deluxe Cottage Suite - most rooms in this category have a separate living room. We asked for upstairs, as advised. Didn't ask for a water view, but the dining room and veranda have magificent waterviews. Lovely South Lounge with fireplaces. Don't miss the buffet breakfast - we've stayed at lovely places, but this buffet topped them all. Beautiful property and the location is just fabulous, even in October when the beach facilities are not applicable. Great touch - the old Ford Woodies lined up out front reminded me of the Great Gatsby. My husband and I are both suffering from an excessive attention to detail - the inn/resort didn't disappoint.

We just returned from a phenomenal stay at the CBI. We were guests of a destination wedding and the entire weekend was executed beautifully. Upon arrival we went through a very speedy check-in in the breathtaking lobby which had sweeping views of the ocean. We were offered a lengthy list of resort weekend activities and redirected to a nearby cottage, Seaview. What a wonderful surprise when we opened the door to our room! It was huge! The door opened to a beautiful bookcase stacked with books and a mini-foyer with gorgeous hardwood floors which was perfect for storing umbrellas, shoes, etc. The dressing area included a small sink, vanity and large full length mirrors with a massive closet. The bathroom was also a decent size and boasted a large bathtub, heating feature and Kohler finishes.

The King-sized bed was extremely comfortable, the 37" flat screen TV, built-in bookcases and gas fireplace all added to the luxury of the room. One of our favorite parts of the room was the gigantic window seat which also had a small table with two chairs in front of it. Our toddler loved sitting in the window seat and looking out the window and we were able to let him sprawl out with his toys comfortably in front of the fireplace to play. The room offered plenty of lighting (both overhead recessed and lamps for dimmer lighting), numerous outlets and more than enough seating and natural sunlight.

As my husband had many groomsmen duties my toddler and I were able to take advantage of the wonderful room service. The food was delicious and arrived within 30 minutes each time. Unfortunately, on our final morning our breakfast arrived late; however, the staff very quickly dismissed the charge and apologized profusely for the tardiness. The breakfast in the main dining room is not to be missed - my toddler ate for free and we were both able to enjoy a delightful spread sitting on the porch with sunlight pouring in and breathtaking views of the ocean.

As far as amenities and facilities, the CBI didn't miss a beat. The boathouse, pool area and beach are fun to explore and my son and I spent hours finding rocks and seashells along the beautiful coast while admiring the picturesque boats bobbing in the ocean. On Friday evening, the bride & groom hosted a cozy and festive bonfire on the beach. The cocktail and reception were elegant and flawless; a truly memorable wedding celebration. The CBI is also not far from the quaint stores downtown and my family and I enjoyed a wonderful Sunday afternoon strolling through the shops (beware: many were closed on Sunday, off-season) and enjoying a neighborhood church's pumpkin patch.

From nuts to bolts, the CBI didn't disappoint. The only complaint I have is that housekeeping showed up very late on our second day and we had to endure very filled wastebaskets and an unmade bed for the better part of the day. However, in my book the CBI is a fantastic destination and we are already planning on returning!
