Have been to Owen and Ollie's a few times over the years, and have never been impressed. There's always something that will throw the experience off. Either it's an inattentive server, or a poorly cooked hamburger, or a drink order that's messed up, or a combinations of all of the above. It's just that one thing that can make an otherwise good experience something less than enjoyable.

That said, the food is not too impressive. Everything is done to standard pub expectations, but nothing is done particularly well.

That said, the prices they charge are ridiculous. $10 average for apps and $20 entrees of mainly pub food? Just doesn't gel for me.

My wife & I joined friends in the bar of Owen and Ollie's an Irish pub for an early dinner and some good tunes. Our friend had a craving for boiled corn beef so we went earlier on a Sunday evening to take advantage of half priced appetizers in the bar 4:00-6:00pm.

Our friends arrived first and found a nice booth in the bar area. We quickly ordered drinks to join our friends for a toast to health & happiness for the year ahead. My wife makes a point to raise our glasses prior to our first drink at all gatherings with family & friends.

Our waiter was very accommodating and responsive to all our needs. We started with Kay's Tortillas to share an appetizer. We added chilli to the large corn tortilla chips which were topped with melted cheddar, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, green olive and roasted jalapeno. This was served with sour cream and house made salsa.

The app was good but nothing beyond what you would expect for chips and salsa. The added chili was average tasting. A disappointment for myself.

After taking our time with finishing the app and another round of drinks we ordered dinner. My friend went with satisfying his craving for a boiled corned beef dinner. His wife & I decided to go with the Boston lager sandwich which is a fresh haddock filet dipped in Boston lager batter, deep fried and topped with cheddar cheese, on herb grilled brioche with lettuce and an onion. My wife decided on the Boston lager fish and chips. A half-pound of haddock dipped in Boston lager batter, deep fried, and served with crispy fries, cole slaw and tartar sauce. Each of our meals was delicious. Very tasty and with fresh ingredients.

The entertainment was very good as well. We stayed after finishing our meals to enjoy the duo of a female singer and male guitar player who also could sing. A good acoustic duo makes for a delightful evening.

One disappointment to note. The bill was wrong. They neglected to give us half off on the appetizer. Not necessarily a big deal but it seemed to take forever to rectify the wrong. Also we had a mysterious $2.00 misc charge on the bill. The waiter did a poor job of describing the charge and we were unable to find it properly described on the menu. We felt it was wrong but did not push the issue. Our waiter rightfully offered to deduct the charge but since it wasn't the amount as much as it was the principle of the matter we let it be.

I recommend Owen & Oliie's. The food is very good. The prices are decent. The atmosphere, with acoustic music, makes for a relaxing night out. But make sure you check your bill. I don't think our's was padded but you never really know?

Was invited to a birthday party at the function room. Room had nice décor. Food was buffet style. Started with appetizers of potato skins, pizza and egg rolls. Dinner was Chicken Parmesan, Penne Pasta with Red Sauce and Alfred Penne with Broccoli. Fresh bread and butter were served to each table and a Caesar salad. Everything was very tasty, one issue was salads did not have enough dressing. The entire meal seemed slow to be served. Long drawn out periods in between the courses. But, overall a good first time experience. The Chicken was done really well! Red Sauce was sweet to taste. Function room itself has its own restrooms. Also had its own bar.
