“Great and intimate state park”

Wompatuck State Park
Ranked #3 of 16 things to do in Hingham
Attraction details
Reviewed August 8, 2017

Wompatuck is a wonderful wooded park - with a variety of hiking and biking trails all in the woods. I have been using it to train for the Camino de Santiago in Spain - a wonderful and managable park with a few large ponds and reservoirs - for fishing and boating. Has a seasonal camping ground and a natural spring that locals visit to get fresh spring water. Many locals walk their dogs on or off leash. Very friendly park for families.

I used the park all through the year -- even in the winter months.
Also a historical site used as naval ammunitin storagae facility during WWII

We can't speak much for the park as we only slept here, but the non-electric campsite facilities were fantastic. Well-maintained campsites that are drive-up, and the showers and bathrooms are clean and didn't run out of soap or toilet paper even with several visitors. The staff all seemed friendly!

Very pleasant place for a walk solo or with others, 30-minute drive from Boston (depending on traffic.) We had a DCR Ranger lead our group hike, most enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

It is a pleasant place to walk, ride a bike and don't forget to drink the well-water. It's very easy to find, and it's quiet. It's a good place to commune with nature.

This is an average campground, but its proximity to Boston can't be beat! There are decent hiking trails and the bathroom and shower facilities are good.
