...come see and feel and taste for yourself. Forget the magnificent setting, and the impeccable (without being snooty) furnishings, and the cleanliness, and the warmth...the owners of The LakeHouse Inn, Cody and Maggie, could open a shack in an alley, and it would somehow become a charming and romantic hideaway. Sitting on the lawn above the "cliff", the view of the lake (hence the name) is hypnotic. This liquid mirror, reflecting the encircling forest, gently calls, and you go. By paddle board, kayak, or just you...
on, in, through the water. Or, just sit and gaze. And gaze.
Maggie's wonderful breakfast and out-of-this-world muffins wait for you in the morning. Wine, cheeses, olives and charcuterie wait for you in the afternoon. Tanglewood is ten minutes one way, Stockbridge ten minutes the other. But why leave?
The only hitch is this...and I include it (reluctantly) only to be a responsible reviewer: You can occasionally hear passing traffic. And when we first arrived, I was a little concerned. However, again as testament to the LakeHouse Inn, after five minutes all you hear is the fading noise in your head as it's replaced by chirping birds, lapping water, frying eggs, and then...silence.
Anyone in the hospitality business should be required to spend a few days at The LakeHouse Inn to see how it's done.More
