We had a great visit in every respect. B&Bs are all about getting a few things right. 1) Location: Birchwood Inn checks all the important boxes: easy to get to from Metro NY or Boston; quiet setting; 5-10 minute walk to the heart of Lenox for dining; easy access to the usual Lenox/Stockbridge attractions, hiking, and all kinds of winter sports. 2) Well-maintained house and comfortable rooms: check and check. The house is vintage, but it is clearly properly cared for inside and out. Fresh paint, beautiful wall paper and window treatments, comfortable furniture, tasteful prints and pictures, inviting library with large hearth fireplace, intimate dining room, large porch, well kept grounds. And the bedrooms are all impeccable, attractively decorated, comfortably fitted out, spacious en suite baths. 3) Breakfast... of course! It was delicious, and ample, in the best home made style (eggs cooked perfectly to our respective tastes). Also home made muffins and bread set out with fresh coffee for early risers (like me) who want something before formal sit down breakfast. 4) Amenities: tea and coffee at any time, home made biscuits and cakes, fresh fruit, bottled water, current newspapers (NY, Boston and local), substantial selection of books (and games) in the library. And finally, 5) The Proprietors! Tom and Debbie could not be more welcoming, gracious, warm and pleasant! We arrived in a drizzle and while I was getting bags from the trunk I noticed someone leaving the house with umbrella in hand.... well, it was Tom and he was headed right to us to say "Welcome!" and to shelter us from the rain while we collected our things. Once inside, we quickly got to the serious business of getting settled and learning a little about each other before being taken to our rooms. So there you have it - "all good!" Don't hesitate to take a room at Birchwood Inn!

We stayed here in March and despite it being still cold had a wonderful experience. The hosts were incredible -- friendly and polite. The Inn is clean and beautiful -- each room uniquely decorated. Beautiful main room on the 1st floor with the fireplace. Hosts left us some delicious desserts -- I didn't try any as I'm not big on sweets but my bf loved them and they smelled delicious. It was a wonderful stay -- I'd love to go back.

Where should I start...Tom and Debbie are the best! The accommodations were perfect, the room was beautiful. My husband surprised me with the “I Love You” package. Flowers, rose petals, truffles and a bottle of champagne decorated this lovely room. The food was superb, homemade breads, muffins and a breakfast that fulfilled for hours. Fresh baked goodies in the afternoon with tea and coffee. We’ve found a B&B that is worth going back to! Tom and Debbie are gracious hosts and now our friends.

We could not have been happier with our stay at the Birchwood! Tom was super helpful with information on dinner, hiking, and shopping. We stayed in Room 5 which was newly redecorated, spacious, beautiful and with a really great bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and served by the fire in a beautiful dining room. Just a few minutes walk to downtown and to woodland trails made it the perfect location for us.

Our first trip to the Berkshires was highlighted by our stay at the Birchwood Inn.
The innkeepers, Tom and Debbie, were more than hospitable, even upgrading our room substantially when the original room's cable malfunctioned.
Debbie's breakfasts were outstanding, as were the sweet treats she left out for tea time and evening snacking.
The Inn is an easy walk to town for shopping and restaurants. It is also centrally located for all destinations in the Berkshires.
Don't hesitate to book a room here if you're headed to the Berkshires!
