What a wonderful way to relax after an intensive meeting in Boston. Just 17 miles away, it was like stepping back in time. The Harbor Light Inn was lovely! We particularly appreciated their attention to our son's need for gluten free diet. The entire staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were charming. Close to ocean and neighboring communities. Don't miss whale watch with 7 Seas Whale Watch in Gloucester.

Rented two rooms at Harbor Light Inn. One for my wife and I and one for my daughter and her friend. Love the look and feel of the place. Staff was very nice and helpful. Staff was always available as well. Great location. Was able to walk to the little downtown, the restuarants, and the nearby Island. Beds comfortable. Rooms clean. Breakfast was buffet style. The food was good but not the same as some B&B breakfasts. Would stay here again.

We have family in Marblehead and visit a few times a year. Every time we stay in the HLI and are not even considering other options regarding our stays there. HLI is a very nice historic New England inn. Rooms are very comfortable with great beds and mattresses - I always sleep very well there (one of the bedrooms we stayed in has a very small bathroom -- that's the only criticism I have). Many bedrooms have working fireplaces, which is especially nice for cold time of the year. The staff is very helpful and will make you feel at home from the moment you arrive -- they will even haul your bags for you upstairs!!! If you have any issues, just let them know they will take care of it right away. The inn is large and has a lot of rooms, a couple of sitting rooms, very cozy little bar/ tavern. Breakfast is excellent, a little early, but I guess it is a New England thing...:) You can enjoy coffee, tee and cake or cookies all throughout the day. There is free wifi throughout he inn, so you can browse either in your room or in the sitting room. Special thanks to Daryl and Susan - they had always made our stay there pleasant and comfortable. We have stayed in the inn many times already and every time it's been a great experience.

Room Tip: Rooms on the east side are quiet, as they are at the back of the building.

Remember the "wonderful" Halloween snow storm of '11? Well, we do. We lived in a MA town that was badly hit by the storm and we were out of power for 4 nights and stayed at the Harbor Light Inn for three of those.

We found the place on line and read the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed and were pleased to find that it had a beautiful facility, a great room, and the wonderful, helpful staff were quite supportive during a difficult situation. The breakfasts were very enjoyable - very tasty, hot, with a lot of variety. The internet connectivity was included and allowed us to work from our room at the inn. The central location in the historic area was a wonderful base from which to explore the town. We have recommended this inn numerous times since our stay.

What a wonderful experience and pleasant. After selecting the Harbor Light Inn from a web search there were no disappointments. We spend 3 nights and it was the perfect out of the way location for visiting the Boston area. I have to qualify that by saying the we did rent a car due to the many places we wanted to visit. The inn was clean, bright and well maintained. There were some renovations in progress, but they did not affect us. Daryl Popper, the assistant manager, was welcoming, upbeat and a great resource for suggestions as to what we might want to do. She went as far as to refrigerate some dinner left overs we had. The following evening she suggested we reheat them in the kitchen and then offered us the use of the rear courtyard to have our dinner. Fortunately, the weather was cooperative. The breakfasts was delicious and freshly made each morning. Our room had a very comfortable bed, a well appointed bathroom, along with a flat screen tv. We couldn't have asked for more and would highly recommend the Harbor Light Inn to anyone visiting the Marblehead area.

The Harbor Light Inn has been a respite over the years when my family and I come to visit my home town of Marblehead. It is lovely, quaint and historical, while at the same time offering modern conveniences of a lovely buffet breakfast, a tavern on site, sweet treats set out at all times of day, and sitting rooms open 24 hrs. on the main floor (both with fire places). As an early riser, I love the location, walkable to State Street wharf (past my great aunt's old house) and close to the spots the locals go for an early morning cup of coffee. On my last visit, I had left my reading glasses at home (a dire situation for any insomniac!) It was late at night and I was about to drive around town hoping to find an open pharmacy where I could purchase new pair. "No need to do that", Susan, the managing hostess assured me.. as she reached into her purse and handed over her own pair of reading glasses to get me through the night.. in my magnification to boot! Thank you, Susan! We love the Harbor Light!
