I loved the quality of the re-design. The spaces are clean but not pristine as at Dia Beacon. The staff was friendly and left me to explore on my own. This museum has the most awesome Sol Lewitt collection I have ever seen and it is worth the trip for that alone. The other shows seemed over curated to me. The group show had a heavy educational hand. The solo shows seemed simplistic in concept...and politically correct, they were not immersive or imaginative artistically. A little obvious, if you know what I mean.
The meal I had in the cafeteria was horrible. I don't think they know what a burrito is.

If you are visiting the Northern Berkshires check out MassMOCA's performing arts schedule. Throughout the year a variety of strong musical acts, theatre and dance at a very reasonable cost are presented in the Hunter Auditorium or in Cafe B-10.

The largest contemporary art museum in the US with creative large and changing exhibits plus 30,000 sq ft of just Sol LeWitt. Plus an amazing performing venue.

I have been here about five or six times and always have a blast.
I love that they accomodate installatins that are ginormous, but also that they always have exhibits that are both thought provoking and really fun. Anyone can go here and have a wonderful time. Kids will love it, and people who do not claim to *get* art will love it. You can't go wrong.
It does not hurt that the town is darling and in the shadow of the Berkshires.
