The Porches is a very comfortable, relaxing inn. It is composed of a number of small houses along River Street, each with several rooms. The main building also has breakfast rooms and a couple of small lounges with working fireplaces. Nice places to sit and read or to have a drink at the end of the day (there isn't a bar as such in the Inn, but they have wine and spirits at the reception which they serve in the lounge). The rooms are clean and well-appointed, including a multi-outlet USB hub which alleviates greatly the need for outlets. There is a gym, a sauna and a heated outdoor pool.
Mass MoCA is across the street, and the entrance is about a 3 minute walk. Downtown North Adams is not much farther.
The Porches gets very pricey in the summer, and at the price peak I am not sure that I think it is a great value, but nonetheless the stay will be pleasant.More
