Owner description: Surrounded by rural countryside, a visit to the Drayton Festival Theatre offers a pleasant drive along quiet roads where common sights include farm-gate signs and roadside stands that will tempt you to stop and make an impromptu purchase of fresh produce, flowers and maple syrup. Occasionally you'll pass an Old Order Mennonite horse-drawn buggy that so eloquently reminds us of life's simple pleasures. The Drayton Festival Theatre is located in a historic 1902 Opera House that contains 375 seats and boasts marvellous acoustics with a main floor and balcony. This celebrated building once served as the Town Hall and housed the Fire Department, Library, Jail, and Council Chambers. With such a varied past, this completely modernized facility is a must-see!

“Always enjoy the performances here”
Reviewed 20 June 2016

We have been going to this theatre since it opened several years ago. There is not a bad seat in the house and the sound is great. The quality of the entertainment is first class and affordable. That is why this theatre has been so successful. We will continue to return.

“Excellent Venue for a Show”
Reviewed 27 May 2016

The theatre is actually an old opera house and, as such, offers great acoustics for a musical. The lobby area has been refurbished and offers tables and chairs as well as an area with nice sofas in which you can relax. The theatre is handicapped accessible and there are even four handicap spots (with permit) within easy walking distance of the theatre (come early if you need them) - two on the street and two in the parking lot behind the theatre. As the stage itself is on the second floor there is an elevator from the main floor to the seating levels. The seating rows are nicely spaced and are wide enough that people can get by you without stepping on toes. The floor appears to be flat so the seating is not banked in any way - at least not where we were sitting (row H). The show we saw, Momma Mia, was an excellent production with a great cast at a great price, but the theatre would be excellent for any type of production. A bit of a drive from major cities but well worth it.

“Good local theatre at a great price”
Reviewed 6 October 2015

Theatre shows are always very well done. There are stairs to get to the theatre but also an elevator. Not sure if you can get to the balcony with elevator.
