This is a very popular, local restaurant, located on Main Street in the heart of Orleans. We were there for dinner Saturday night. Arrived around 5:30pm, so we could enjoy dinner and then watch the sunset at one of the nearby beaches.
We were seated promptly, choosing to sit in the dining room, as opposed to their attractive and popular bar area – which would have been just as nice. We started with drinks – a chocolate martini and a draft beer.
For dinner, I decided on the pork chop special, which was exceptionally good and quite large. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. My companion went with lighter fare – a Caesar salad and a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder was delicious, although the salad was quite ordinary which was somewhat of a disappointment. Still, that did not take away from the nice dinner that we enjoyed.
By the way, Mahoney’s has been received the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Restaurant for Dinner in Orleans for several years in a row. By the time we left to take in the sunset, both the dining room and bar area were full with a friendly and upbeat crowd.
