We are a group of 12 golfers from different clubs with Handicaps from 10 to 24.We went last weekend to Owston Hall. The hotel and food were fine.
However the course was advertised as a Championship Golf Course. This is currently not the case and I believe this is false advertising. The course is about 5500 yards par 66 with no par fives. Also the rough was a foot deep in places less than a yard from the narrow fairways and everyone lost several balls. We were approached by members who said they were looking to join another club!!
When approached by the trip organiser the owner/manager could see nothing wrong!!!
In addition the people in the professional shop overcharged our trip leader by £11.00 for balls for prizes and tried to charge one of our party £10 for a pull trolley. When challenged about the price he reduced the price to £5.When one of our party rented a buggy for £30 he was told he could not take it to the practice area which was a fair way from the club house.
If you are booking a relaxing trip away great. If you are looking for a golf trip look elsewhere. This group of friends have been going on golf trips for over 25 years and this is the first time we have been disappointed with the Course chosen and the standard of the professional staff.More
