Comfortable, quiet, clean, lovely place for a weekend on Cape Ann. Our room, billed as "partial ocean view" had a sumptuous view of the water as we awoke and a full frontal view from a shared deck. Comfortably appointed, it is furnished as an inn with the anonymity of a motel--no central place to gather or food served. Coffee available 24/7 in the entryway. One drawback: continental breakfast available at another local inn/motel a mile away. On the other hand, guests at the Quarterdeck also have use of the other inn's indoor pool. We didn't avail ourselves of this, but it may be worth the breakfast trade-off. Close enough to Gloucester (twelve minutes driving) so dinner choices abound even in winter.

My wife and I visited this Inn at the end of a northeast coast road-trip. If you've ever had a balcony room on a cruise ship, that is what this feels like. My wife literally got sea-sick from the movement of the waves in the picture window, brilliant. The amenities were great, service wonderful, and the area had a wonderful little nook of towns to explore. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose the room with the semi-private deck if the weather is good, you won't want to leave.

My wife and I stayed in early October in the Neptune room. Standing by the picture window it almost feels as though you are standing on top of the ocean. We sat by the window for many, many, hours watching the tide come in and a full moon come up. Forget the TV, who needs it when you can experience the ocean just outside your window.

My husband and I stayed at this Inn, in early October. We stayed in the Neptune room, which had its only deck, and fantastic views of the ocean. We had a wonderful meal at the Yankee Clipper next door. Only drawbackto staying at the Quarterdeck Inn is that you have to take your breakfast at another hotel (not near enough realistically to walk) for breakfast. I feel that breakfast should be offered at the Inn, they could easily turn the 'office' into a breakfast area. Would however recommend the Inn.

The main reason to stay here (we stayed the Columbus Day holiday weekend) are the amazing views of the ocean from both the full length, wide picture window, and the balcony, if you have one. It was tremendously restorative, and I hardly got into Rockport Center..which, if you don't have a car, can be a slight problem anyway. The only issue I had was that breakfast was only available at a different facility, which we didn't bother with, but took the breakfast at the nearby Emerson Inn, which was fine, but nothing special regarding its offerings. I was here there for my birthday, and found that the restaurant of my choice was not even open so we ended up scrambling for a decent restaurant, which we really didn't find on such short notice that time of year. But all this was nothing compared to the reason we booked in the first place-a relaxing place to watch the sunrise, the ocean waves, the sunset, from an aspect you rarely get to see. Randy, the innkeeper, was cordial, and despite a busy time, took the time to call me when I left something behind and mailed it to me. If you want to get away from the main tourist drag and experience Rockport in a new way, don't hesitate to book here. We stayed in the Oriental the first night, which was lovely, but really enjoyed Neptune's Car room, which had a king bed and more private balcony (but very noisy air-conditioner!). I would stay here again and again as long as I could get into town.

Room Tip: Room with a balcony in good weather.

We greatly enjoyed this Inn. The view through the wall of windows in our room was just fabulous and could be enjoyed even if the weather was not so great. Our room was not overly large (typical of an Inn) but was definitely adequate with 2 chairs and a flat screen TV. The grounds are nice and there is plenty of waterfront seating and tables. Coffee and ice are readily available as was Randy, the Innkeeper. Very personable and helpful guy!! He provides his cell phone number so you can call at any time if need be. Location is very convenient to Rockport. We brought our bikes, and it was an easy ride to the village. We had breakfast at both the Rockport Suites and Emerson Inn (extra $10/person fee). Rockport Suites was acceptable, but Emerson Inn was definitely preferable – lovely porch, view, and buffet. What’s really nice about this Inn is that you are able to enjoy the resort amenities (such as pools) at the Emerson Inn or Rockport Suites, while enjoying the intimacy and uniqueness of a New England Inn. We especially appreciated the waterfront pool at the Emerson in the late afternoon after a day of biking. We were only sorry that Hurricane Irene cut our visit short. We will be back!

I don't think there was any other accomodation in Rockport that had a finer view. Although we had the room with the partial view, we could still see the water from our bed and the balcony. Although the room was not large, it was very nice with a full bath. There was daily cleaning of the room. Randy was very helpful and recommended some great places to eat. Coffee was provided on site, but we had to drive a mile or so to get our continental breakfast. There were several items to select from including waffles. We were at the end of a long vacation and spent our time there just relaxing. Picture reading a book on a lounge chair looking out at the water. Ahhh!
