Suggest reservations even on Sunday nights. We were seated immediately and enjoyed the warm fresh air because of the full length open air windows across the front of the restaurant. It is a tequila bar so we tried the spicy el diablo jalepeno infused margarita. Yum! They also have a huge selection of tequila shots. Chips and guacamole were yummy. They brought extra chips without extra charges. Our waitress was upbeat and fun and her suggestions were spot on. The short rib tacos were tender and juicy. The chicken enchiladas were also excellent. We also tried a side of the corn on the cob smothered in a mojo mayo and cheese. It is split in half so plenty for 2 to share. It is very rich and I would of preferred a slightly lighter coating. I love the seasonal flair to the menu so I look forward to future visits to see how they incorporate the ingredients into the classic Mexican fare.

Busy at 8pm. Our terrific waiter was attentive and helpful. We shared appetizers and had tacos as entrees, all delicious.

The Painted Burro is owned by the same folks who own Posto, our favorite restaurant in Davis Square, so we were excited to eat there. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. The menu is heavy on the "taco / enchilada" choices and light on the more interesting and complex entrees. The dishes were acceptable, nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding enough that we would go back for.

If you want a place with a huge offering of beers and tequila, Painted Burro is definitely for you.

I am pretty picky about my Mexican, am spoiled from beloved west coast style tacos. So the Painted Burro is pretty awesome and its in David Square on the east coast! Went for dinner last Sat with the family, it was my second visit. The pork belly guacamole is out of this world delicious. The el diablo shrimp taco and the carnitas taco will fill you up and even tho you are stuffed from all the chips and guac, you cannot stop eating every last morsel!

Just go, we made a rez before hand which is smart since it fills up quick!

The nachos were the best part of the meal: filling, a great value and tasty. Skip the tasteless Oaxaca grits. The mild cheese added nothing to the grits which themselves lacked flavor. The short rib and fried oyster tacos were excellent. The duck leg tamale almost prompted a lower rating, as there was only a bit of duck in ONE HALF of the tamale. The densely packed corn had almost no corn flavor and at $11 was not an appropriate charge. Stick to nachos and tacos.
