The tour of the house was very interesting because it had been so well-preserved thanks to Miss Choate's wishes in her will. (On a side-note, we were all bit surprised that the grounds weren't better maintained - chipped paint, messy gardens, no water in the fountains, etc.)
Our tour guide was a bit canned but I believe she was also new to the job. We most enjoyed, however, the audio tour of the gardens. It is lovely to stroll the grounds at your own pace, and the audio tour was very well-done and even included snippets of interviews with various people. The hour-long tour of the house and approximately hour-long audio garden tour made the $15 admission price a great value (kids 12 and under are free.) The 11-year old child with us absolutely loved the entire tour, but it may be a bit long for younger children.
