I did not go into their visitor center or shop but this is a very nice garden for strolling. They give out a good map for a self guided tour. The paths are easy to walk on and everything is well marked. There are a few sculptures that can be well observed from the paths. If you are able to walk on the uneven grassy surface, you can get close up views of them. Because we got there in the late afternoon, we did not have time to see everything. I would definitely go here again in order to see what I missed. It is possible to buy some of the plants that you see here. The ladies at the desk were very pleasant and answered all our questions.

The Berkshire Botanical Garden is a lovely spot to spend about 2 hours. The assortment of flowers, plants and vegetables are very nicely set up and very well maintained. Some of the sculptures really don't add much to the garden but serve as conversation pieces.

Flowers, shrubs, trees and gravel pathways interspersed with modern sculpture. A delightful way to while away a couple of sunny hours.while also learning about some of the less-ordinary horticulture of the area.

My husband and I visited the Berkshire Botanical Gardens in Stockbridge, Massachusetts on Thursday, May 24, 2018. We arrived about 12:00 PM and spent a little over an hour there. The brochure entitled ‘Guide to the Gardens’, which we received upon admission, provided good information on a self-guided tour, including a map, and was quite helpful for touring the gardens. Our visit was a little earlier in the season, than in previous years, and everything was not in full bloom yet. However, some plants were in bloom.

The Berkshire Botanical Gardens have always been beautiful, having a variety of different types of plants on display, always something different in bloom at different times of the year, based on our multiple visits to the gardens over the past few years. The vegetable gardens have been very interesting with examples of a variety of different types of vegetables. However, there were only a few vegetables growing at this early time of year. But, regardless of this, there were more different types of potted plants to see in the greenhouse than in previous visits, which was quite nice.

Although there were plants/flowers in bloom, there seemed to be fewer plants in bloom than in previous visits, which have always occurred later in the season for us. The roses were not in bloom yet. I’m assuming they will be in bloom by mid- June, perhaps a bit earlier. Our visit was during the week, not during the weekend as was usual for us, and there were a lot of people (perhaps volunteers) busily planting new plants and maintaining the grounds. Also, since we had a lot of rain in the days prior to our visit, the grass needed to be mowed. I am assuming cutting the grass would have been done before the Memorial Holiday Weekend. This was never an issue for us with past visits to the gardens.

Regardless of this, the Berkshire Botanical Gardens have always been a great place to visit in the Berkshires for beautiful gardens and scenic landscapes. It has been a very relaxing place to walk around and enjoy the scenery and nice gardens, definitely a great escape worth visiting. We enjoyed visiting these gardens each time we went there. There was also plenty of free parking convenient to the gardens.

I visited on a beautiful sunny day in late May, and was absolutely transported to a calming oasis of greenery and sculptures. Although not many flowers were in bloom yet, walking the meandering paths and seeing all the gardens ( highlights: pond garden and herb garden) was so restorative and I did not want to leave! Will return again to see gardens in full bloom.
