The food and service at Hong Kong City is the best around this area. They have a luncheon special you can't beat. Soup, appetizer and meal for less than $10.00.
It is also very clean and can easily do it during a lunch hour.

We love this place. ( My son says there sushi is great! I don't eat it.)

A spacious setting for delicious Chinese dining. You feel like you are in a restaurant in China with the many wall hangings and furnishings.a typically wide ranging menu is available.

Pulled into the parking lot at about 5:30 on a Thursday evening. Half the parking lot is full. Just the north side. Strange. Commuters? We are promptly seated right next to the only other diners in the place. Mind you, the dining area is cavernous. The bar is packed; the usual crowd, I assume. The sole waiter in the place takes our drink requests. Of course, bottled beer only. Wife inquires about a mango margarita. He smirks. Just traditional margarita. (A few menu items have mango as an ingredient. Please someone run a mango from the kitchen to the bar) My wife laments that few Chinese restaurants offer combo meals so she ends up ordering a few appetizers which the waiter questions as if she were the first patron to ever do that while I decided on the "shrimp with walnuts" as an entrée with a side of pork fried rice which we share. Oddly, as the couple beside us leave, they are replaced by another couple with two young children at the exact table. (Don't want the waiter to walk too far) We have nothing against children .... if they are behaved. Thank you, Hong Kong City! There must be 60 tables in the joint. 58 unoccupied. As for the food; Linda's tidbits proved to be the average fare. To their credit, the batter was light and nicely prepared. My shrimp seemed to be lacking in flavor; the walnuts, the sauce. Simply flat. Must admit that 8 jumbo shrimp is a generous portion and the presentation with cute raw veggie cutouts was a nice touch. The pork fried rice - fresh and tasty; hard to mess up. To be fair, the food was okay, a sad commentary on the state of Chinese cuisine in this city. The environment was a bit unsettling and we have been here many, many times. As we left at 7:00, or so, there was that one couple with two kids still dining as another couple arrived to replace us, almost on queue. A Thursday night.
A few observations:
Half the parking lot full. Where were those folks?
The bar crowd got a bit raucous by 7:00. Same people coming and going. Shady.
Noted that the Carry-Out business was booming. A real plus for the owners.
What ever happened to the days when most every Chinese place offered meals with a smattering of some Chinese vegetables swimming in a sauce ..... water chestnuts, pea pods, mushrooms, bamboo shoots ...? I guess you have to zero in on the menu.
There were 2 guys continuously tending to the sushi bar. Cutting, chopping and adding product to the cases, as though half the city of Taunton was about to arrive. Beware Friday night diners.
Funny that an adjacent table was stacked with fresh plates and flatware. Once again, you never want a wait staff to over- exert themselves. Seriously?
Listen, the food was alright, but given the immense size of this establishment, we were uncomfortable by the lack of clientele and put out by the lack of attention or rather the decidedly off-putting attitude of the single server. Very odd experience. It will be a long, long time before we are overcome by the urge for a mediocre/average Chinese experience.
