Mikado opened in 2017 on Main Street in Vineyard Haven, the third in a chain offering a combination of Japanese and Chinese cuisine, some traditional and some fusions with other Asian dishes. Service is good, food well prepared and with a good variety, and all the entrees delicious. Don't expect the kind of Chinese dishes served in Boston or New York, buit prepare to be satisfied with the entree choices. Mikado is a good choice for Asian food. The restaurant current gets busy between 7 and 8 p.m. but tables are relatively easy to get before or after that hour.

Finding a table on a grey Sunday afternoon in Vineyard Haven is tough. I wasn't in the mood for Chinese but wanted to be waited on.
They sat our party of 6 right away, 4 adults and 2 teens. We ordered 2 appetizers, 3 salads and 4 entrees. Quick friendly service, pleasant non-beachy atmosphere, cool and relaxing.
The salads were wonderful, especially the seaweed salad and the avacado salad. The appetizers (chosen by teens), chicken satay and spring rolls were also very good.
I thought the Pad Thai was ok, and the pancakes of the moo shi were a bit dry. The General Tsao's chicken was standard but certainly tasty, the chicken fried rice neither looked like soy sauce nor tasted like it. I thought it was very good, much better than ordinary, but the teens wanted the standard type.
All in all we were all happy we chose the place.

Just opened. We have had dinners there twice and takeout once. They are very busy and already have a strong repeat business (based on the same people we saw 2 nights in a row) The sushi not only tastes great but has a very creative presentation. One important thing for me is that the food is not overly salty. This place is a very good value compared to other Vineyard restaurants.
