“Best Staycation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 January 2012

My husband and I recently spent our 28th Anniversary at our local hotel for what is called a staycation. WE have a wonderful suite on the 4th floor, delicious dinner at Zephrus Zeafood & Grill and really enjoyed ourselfs. We will recomend the Manion House to all our friends and hope to go again.

I called to set up a reservation time for 4 people and was trying to figure out some things about the House that weren't on the website. I couldn't believe how uninterested this lady was to help me. There are four of us and I want to know the best room to suit our needs, she responded with ONLY one word answers and got so snotty with me I hung up on her. This is not the type of service I expected from a place like this. I certainly do not want to stay here and would pay more to get the service I thought the Mansion House would offer. DO NOT STAY HERE

Please...Please...Please call us back! Our resident Sherlock Holmes can’t figure out who answered the phone (unless it was the off site /after hours answering service) and all of us want another chance. Usually we talk too much on the phone, since we love to brag about this place we proudly call home. Winter is a great time for a Vineyard getaway. Island life slows down, there are still things to do, folks are friendly and some of Mansion House rooms have fireplaces and views of Vineyard Sound. Please call us again. As a family owned Inn, our goal is to help you in any way we can.

A terrific hotel: a welcoming and accommodating and friendly staff; comfortable rooms with views of the shops along Main Street in Vineyard Haven or of the harbor. Our stay included use of the well-appointed health club, a real deal with a large swimming pool, jacuzzi, weight rooms, yoga room. Spa treatments available also. We had a fabulous salsify cod stew at the in-house restaurant Zephrus on a cold winter night. Perfect. Plus a full American complimentary breakfast. Off-season rates and special offers make Mansion House our top choice for winter travel on the Vineyard.

We only go to Marthas Vineyard off-season and we find the most reasonable accommodations to be at Mansion House. (also the best location). The prices are affordable for very nicely appointed rooms and the complimentary breakfast is excellent. And with the hotel is use of their spa and pool! The staff is super friendly and having the cozy restaurant Zepherus attached to it is very convenient. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: Theres over 40 rooms starting with queen size which we had which was more than adequate. But poking...

My wife and I had business on the island last weekend and only expected to be there for a couple hours. But the Nor'Easter had different plans for us and all ferries were cancelled. We were stuck and needed a place to stay. We sprinted through the driving rain into the Mansion House. We were welcomed by warm and inviting staff and were promptly offered a room at a surprisingly inexpensive rate. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, clean and cheery. A delicious (and free) breakfast buffet awaited us in the morning. An unexpected, accidental overnight stay became a wonderful getaway. We'd gladly return anytime.

My husband and I love Marthas Vineyard and one of our favorite places to stay is The Mansion House. The rooms are beautiful, some with fireplaces and flat screen TV'S. The spa is wonderful and the pool, hottub, and steam room are enjoyable especially on a fall or winter day. The restaurant, Zepherus has a very good menu and breakfast there is usually included with your stay. I look forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: ask for a room in the back of the hotel, not facing Main street, which can be noisy.

My friends and I didn't stay at this Hotel but came over from Oak Bluffs for a SPA Party in September 2010.The ladies who set up the party and arranged for individual services/payments and scheduling were very helpful and friendly. The physical spa area left a lot to be desired. Although the cost of services were expensive, my anticipation of luxury was deflated upon arrival. The front desk clerk directed us out of the hotel lobby and around to side entrance to the SPA. The furniture in the small front lobby of SPA was cheap looking . There was a small table with chairs in a small area to the side of the room( "waiting area" for not only checking in but also for waiting your turn to go to back area for service?)There was a tray of snacks on the table which we found out later was a combination of snacks based on the number in party who ordered individual snack trays with their services. Consequently the first persons to go for services did not share in the snacks althought they paid for a snack tray and those who went in later had the pleasure though they didn't pay for it. There were many inviting services offered and each of the 11 of us enjoyed various ones. The technicians were very skillful, comforting, friendly ladies. I would give them a 5 out of 5 rating.
No private area for all of "party" to relax in Spa attire before and after services. I had "the works" and the treatments were comparable to some of the best I have had. I am sort of a SPA junkie and if you don't mind wearing waffle robe, disposable slippers and sitting in small area on loveseat sized wicker( or straw) bench alone in traffic area after service with no water, snack( although came with pkg) and etc. offered, no soothing music,or magazines, then THIS IS THE SPA FOR YOU!!
The "Laps of Luxury" does not apply to the physical SPA area. Only the technicians. The pool and fitness center were adequate. Loved the restuarant Zephrus and a beautiful view of the harbor from the rooftop cafe.
