Excellent vacation at the best prices

Review of Econo Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 27, 2019
This was a great family vacation and we stayed at Econolodge. The new owners have done significant upgrades to the rooms with very comfortable beds and great amenities. The breakfast items were what you would expect at a Choice hotel, and we were very satisfied. This is the best place for the money at the Cape. I highly recommend it.

Anyone who stays at the Cape frequently knows there are not a lot of great hotels in a normal price range. For the price, this is what you would expect. There was a huge pile of sand in the middle of the room when we arrived. Towels and linens are threadbare, dirty, and stained. We doubt they were washed. The place seems to have been renovated fairly recently, so that's a plus. There are several other motels in this price range that we've stayed at. This is actually the best! That said, the Cape has terrible lodging options, IMO. Yikes.

I booked this room because judging by their pictures it looked updated and modern. When you arrive at the hotel you’ll realize how old it looks, but was still hopeful for the inside to be remodeled. We open the door, and it does look like the picture as far as furniture, however they must’ve had an amazing photographer. there was mold on the wall, it smelled dirty, it looked dirty, the shower was disgusting. I opened the door, walked through, and immediately checked out. The front desk didn’t even argue or apologize when I told them I wasn’t staying for above mentioned reasons. They refunded me at least. Do not book this place

We stayed here twice while visiting Cape Cod. We had two different rooms and both seemed to have been renovated. Our first time we stayed on the upper floor in a room facing the road. The room was very large with fridge, microwave, good wifi, lots of tv channels and the bed was comfortable. You could hear the traffic so I think in the busier times this might be a little annoying.

The second time we stayed on the ground floor. The room had all the same things but much smaller. It was considerably quieter than the road facing the road.

The biggest downfall of this hotel would be their breakfast area. Only 2 tables and a pretty dismal selection of food. However at Econolodge the breakfast is usually just cereral or toast so this was the same.

I love free nights. We are members of just about every hotel club there is, but we defiantly took advantage of this being in the CHOICE family of brands. Great location for experiencing CAPE COD for our first time. We were the only Californians there that night!

We enjoy taking mini-vacations and the Cape (avoiding July, August and the first part of September) is a super place to relax. We've taken maybe 5 minis on the Cape over the last 2 years, and we use this motel when we go. The grounds are quiet. Our room is clean and comfortable, with a decent shower. When needed the A/C and heat work just fine (1 mini was in February). We are treated politely by any staff members we encounter. We do not partake of the free continental breakfast because within 2 miles are many great breakfast places, from a cop of coffee to a full, sit-down meal. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't your motel. We travel a lot, and typically use the room just to sleep and shower, so these accommodations are just fine for us.
