The new place is very nice. Love the bar! Pricing and menu choices are a bit upscale but Clarklake is anyway. Four of us went and we all enjoyed our food. Friendly staff. It should be nice in the summer on the deck/porch area. We will try it again.

The Pointe is a new alternative to the Beach Bar for people seeking a great setting and good food on Clarklake. We've gone several times and are enthusiastic, but with some reservations. First the good: great location, beautiful new building, awesome bar with great comfy chairs overlooking the water, and a young, energetic staff (a number of which have told me it was their first restaurant work). The menu has a wide range of items from a veggie burger to a chicken fajita sandwich (tasty, though a bit tough), a steak (good!), eggplant pasta (somewhat bland), a fish sandwich (lightly fried and excellent!), chicken leg (bigger and richer than you would ever guess) and stuffed trout (really good, and beautifully presented). Desserts are gorgeous, taste great, and priced right. Reservations are taken, a must on a busy summer night. Many of the appealing young servers are fun and well-trained, though our most recent one was weak: we had to ask for water more than once, she made a mistake in entering the order, served my wine in a clumsy way on my left side, set the waters down haphazardly on the table, and generally lacked polish. The management is visible and very customer-oriented. They began with a limited menu to make sure they could create a winning experience; the whole menu is now available. They are using customer feedback to improve every aspect of the business. There is a good-sized crowd of diverse ages. The biggest complaint we have is that the acoustics make the main dining room, and especially the screened-in porch, so loud that it goes from being festive to frustrating and grating. The hard surfaces reflect and amplify the sounds and conversation becomes difficult. It could be remedied with a carpet, acoustic tile, or some other fix. There is an under-used deck with umbrellas and a great view, but there isn't service there. In summary, this a most promising place and I suspect in another few months I'd be able to give it my highest rating. .
