“Expensive Extras”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2012

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. But overall we were disappointed. We were "upgraded" to a "Preferred Room" on the Executive (14th) Floor but I am not sure what value this added! There was no executive lounge with free drinks/snacks a la Marriott and the TV was still an ancient CRT square box with no TV Guide and a poor selection of premium channels. The room and bathroom were in need of an update. Our biggest gripe was that everything was extra. Our previous night at a Holiday Inn Express (not quite as luxurious but frankly no great difference!)had included complementary breakfast for 2 and Internet - these two extras at the Dearborn Hyatt Regency would have added almost $50/night had we taken them. This is fine when the company is paying (well perhaps!) but not when you are on holiday.

The bathroom faucet looked like a petri dish- there might be the beginnings of the next penicillan evolving there. I noticed the air filter was rotated 45 degrees in the ceiling duct, I opened it to fix it only to see the filter is too small in size. Kind of gross. Also the rooms are quite dated, the bathroom mirror and sink are way to low for adults. I hope to never stay here again.

We were at this hotel for a family wedding. The rooms are a nice size, very clean and beds are comfy. Bathrooms are small but there's a sink outside the bathroom and one inside the bathroom so 2 people can easily get ready. Front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. The public areas were clean and nicely furnished. Valet parking is available for a fee but there is plenty of free parking in the lots surrounding the hotel. The bar in the lobby is nice. Bartenders were friendly and they have a small menu of usual "bar foods" and quality was good. We did have breakfast at the hotel. We had the buffet, but it was too expensive for a very basic buffet with the usual items. It is centrally located, right near a mall and close to other attractions like the Henry Ford Museum. No need to be afraid to venture out. Dearborn is a very nice city.

Stayed at the Hyatt again for a convention with workshops in urban dance! Fun, fun, fun and the Hyatt never dissapoints. Though the rooms are just a little outdated they are VERY clean and the views are spectacular. It does sadden me to think that they Hyatt is leaving the area and that by this time next year, the property will be owned by another chain(hopefully). The service was stellar and though i was only staying for a short time, the hotel manager checked me in, gave me a very nice room with a sweet city view on a high floor. The hotel was busy with at least two weddings, a prom and the convention, but i never felt like a number or that i wasnt getting the best service that he had to offer. Location is prime as there are several decent restaurants within walking distance(Bravo, PF Changs', Benihana). The mall is OK, but does have decent anchor stores like JCPenney, Macy's and Sears.

I hate to see Hyatt go from this location, but i always feel like a VIP when I stay here with my business(wedding/event planner) and always treated courteously and generously by staff whether I am paying or using points!

Room Tip: Classic, spacious and corners are great!

The hotel is beautiful on the inside. The front desk staff was extremely accomadating and friendly. The food in our conference rooms was excellent both days. The hotel is in need of some attention as far as the aging of the facility. Overall a good stay.

I stayed for one night at this luxury hotel and enjoyed my entire stay. Speedy friendly check-in. Convenient self parking. Top room with a view of Detroit in the distance. Location of the hotel is great: in fornt of a mall and besides a TGI Fridays with an excellent cook. Henry Ford Museum is also close by. Totally recommendable place.

Quick trip to Dearborn for a conference. The staff was very efficient and friendly. The lobby was nice and room was comfortable. Conference facilities were great and food was a bit better than average. Internet was slow. I'm not familiar with the area, so can't say how convenient the location is, but there is a mall and golf course adjacent to the property. I don't stay in this type of property often, so was annoyed by some of the prices; however, I assume they are normal for this type of hotel.
