We were really excited to book this hotel as it looked and sounded just perfect. The building and adorable lobby lived up to our expectations. The coffee counter downstairs was very welcome in the morning, with good coffee and pastries. The overall vibe in the hotel was great but the room was very disappointing. We faced a wall of the building next door -- what can you do? We had an insanely low room rate and weren't in one of the best rooms. We had two double beds for 3 of us. The room was so spare, it looked like a college dorm. There was absolutely nowhere to put our things, other than a wardrobe. Truthfully, I wasn't too keen on putting anything in there and that is my own decision, I know. Had we used it, we still wouldn't have had much space to put anything. Also, there was no table or anywhere to put my purse. With all of our things on the ground (3 small suitcases, everyone's shoes and a purse), it wasn't very comfortable to move around.

The bathroom is roomy with an enormous shower; I think the square footage could've been better used if more was allocated to the room, rather than the bathroom. On the topic of the bathroom, I unscrewed 2 of the 3 bare lightbulbs on the bathroom fixture and still found it blinding. A dimmer or a different fixture would be a big improvement.

The side tables by the bed were little platforms attached to the beds and were too small to really put anything on them so, more stuff went on the floor. The black phone that took up one of them was covered in dust.

Overall, a cute hotel to hang out in downstairs with a lovely bar but I wouldn't go back to sleep there. Possibly a higher grade of room would have mad for a more pleasant experience but the one with two double beds is definitely not one that I would recommend.

Room Tip: Higher floor would feel less gloomy overall and the room with two double beds was really cramped for 3 people.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a thorough review of your stay! I am sorry to read the rooms itself was not to your liking. Lending ourselves to a more European-style setting, we understand that our accommodations are less common in their design. Your notes are appreciated, and help us moving forward. We would love the chance to host you again!

We were in the room called "The Chamber". The room was small, but we only needed a place to sleep so that was ok by us. Very clean property, close to Comerica Park where we were attending a concert. Staff were phenomenal. Nice brewpub two doors down. We will stay here again if we find ourselves in Detroit.

A high class hotel hidden right in the middle of the downtown Detroit action. The room was newly renovated, meticulously clean, the sheets were crisp and a very high quality thread count. The air conditioner kept the room cool and comfortable. The bathroom and walk in shower were heavenly!!

We stayed one night at this hotel for a concert. Our favorite downtown Detroit hotel is the Aloft David Whitney, but they were over $400/night for a room. We were a bit nervous booking a newer hotel (soft opening started in March according to staff), but we were very impressed! Yes the rooms are small, but if you are there for a night or two there is nothing more you will need. The beds, linens, and pillows were all top of the line and very luxurious. We had a queen room with a small table (would have been nice to have two chairs instead of just one). The shower is rain head style and even though I have very long hair I had no problem rinsing it out. Some reviews complained about the air conditioning, but our room was very cold and the hallways were comfortable as well, even on a 90 degree + hot and humid day. Hotel staff were very accommodating. Noise was not an issue and we were right off the elevator. Valet parking is available but is a $30/night addition. We had a bit of difficulty getting our Jeep in the morning as it is a stick shift and no one was initially available that could drive it, so just a word of caution you may have to walk and get your vehicle if this is the case. The location is perfect for Comerica Park, Little Caesar's Arena, and Ford Field. All are within a 5 minute walk. Don't hesitate to book this hotel! I hope they keep the prices reasonable too.

Room Tip: Higher floors would have better views

Generally enjoyed my stay. The staff was very nice. The hotel has a charm and centrally located. I liked the coffeeshop, the boutique and the Candy Bar.
The rooms had built up dust and the lobby was a little too dark, some of the furniture also did not feel sturdy.
