Blue Star Motel was wonderful for our overnight in Saugatuck/Douglas. Very comfortable bed, wonderful veranda for sitting, an overall great experience. The front desk (Billy) was great, very cordial and very thorough. Would not hesitate to stay here in the future.

We loved the cozy little room and the great service! Parking right by the door to our room is always a plus for us, and we also enjoyed being close to both Douglas and Saugatuck. Both towns were new to us and we enjoyed their charm. The best surprise, though, was the very excellent breakfast at the restaurant next door. We would be happy to stay at the Blue Star Motel again. We also prefer driving on the Blue Star/ Red Arrow Hwy!

Room tip: You may want to be closer to the hot tub which is in the backyard.

Rusty and Billy helped us have the best of experiences at Saugatuck/Douglas. We had a reservation at Starelite Resort, the other motel they manage, and when we checked in Rusty told us that, according to what we were looking for, we would be better at the Blue Star. A room happened to be available on the other place, so we switched rooms. I have to thank the staff for being so friendly and so approachable!
The rooms at Blue Star are smaller than at Starlite, but in exchange you are closer to the beaches and you have a hot tub open all year round that totally made our days! Nothing comparable to wake up in the morning and get in the tub, or to come to the motel after a day out and rest your legs in the beautiful backyard. Also, full breakfast for free at the Blue Star Café, a pretty diner that take you to the 1950s. Overall, a great stay. We are already planning to come back!

This is a small hotel with the perfect setup. Only 9 rooms here so it's quiet and every room has a walk out backyard access to a setup which you would have with your back yard. Yard chairs....hot tub....outdoor porch furniture with lights. Close to downtown and the brewery!!! The stay includes a breakfast voucher for the cafe next door. Lots of fun!!!

Loved almost everything about this charming motel. We were impressed with the welcome. We had great communication with the staff and, from the moment we booked to our departure, felt they were there to answer our questions and make sure we enjoyed our stay. We really liked that we could walk to downtown Douglas and that breakfast in the restaurant was part of the deal. We took advantage of the hot tub out back (much appreciated after climbing the 322 steps of a nearby dune). My only complaint stems from the fact that the mattress in #7 really needs to be replaced. The springs are uber-squeaky and for a light sleeper (me!) the sound was a problem every time my husband changed position. In addition, the mattress wasn't very comfortable and, as a result, I really didn't sleep well at all. It was a shame because in all other respects, it was a great place to stay.
