We loved the rural location. The cottage is a wonderful accommodation - with two full bedrooms available on one level. It is close to Killarney so getting in and out to our tours was very easy! No wifi connection was the only disadvantage of this site during our stay there!
This quiet, two-bedroom cottage is about 15 minutes drive out of Killarney and a great base to explore southwest Ireland. We would recommend using your GPS to find it - we didn't and we got lost. But Patricia and (particularly) John were dedicated in their quest to find us after it got dark and guide us safely to our peaceful retreat.
The house has two lovely bedrooms with plenty of space and storage cupboards. The kitchen is large and open and well-set out. The lounge room is spacious and comfortable. The laundry is easy to find your way around.
Thanks to the warm welcome from John and Patricia we settled in very quickly. They are just a quick walk away and let us know that they were happy to help at any time if we needed assistance. The house is on a large block of land and provides privacy.
With John and Patricia's advice we planned day trips around the Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula. Both just beautiful.
While the weather can be fickle, we quickly learnt that retreating into a nearby pub during a shower of rain was the best response. On the Ring of Kerry drive we stopped at Glenbeigh for a pub break at the Towers Hotel bar. A good decision. We went back again. Great food and a relaxing ale or hot chocolate (depending on the day).
The multi-coloured stones on the beach at Waterville were also a highlight of the stops on the Ring of Kerry. Such beautiful scenery, every-varying.
We took a detour via Port Magee and Valencia Island on a rainy day. At Port Magee we booked for a Skellig Michael boat trip and thoroughly enjoyed that the following day.
And, of course, Rose Cottage is very conveniently located for trips into Killarney to stroll around the streets and enjoy the atmosphere. As our hosts pointed out, if you want to go into town for a big night out, the cab fare home is quite modest. We didn't try that one, but it might be advisable if you're staying and celebrating a suitable occasion.
Thanks to John and Patricia we had a lovely stay and heartily recommend Rose Cottage for visitors to Killarney and the southwest of Ireland in general.
Quiet and comfortable within easy reach of Killarney we all enjoyed our stay at rose cottage Patricia and John were very welcoming
We had a wonderful stay at Rose Cottage. Clean very comfortable cottage in a peaceful location very covenient to KillArney town. House was a home from home. Perfect for children. We will definitely return.
Clean, comfortable, spacious cottage. Lovely quiet location but still very convenient for visiting Killarney. Helpful owner. We enjoyed our stay.
We had a terrific stay! John, Patricia, & their daughter were extremely welcoming. We would definitely highly recommend the Rose cottage to anyone. My husband & I stayed with our Mom's at the cottage. We came to Ireland to tour for a family vacation/anniversary celebration. The Rose cottage gave us a comfortable home base. We were just outside of the congestion of Killarney, but still very close (about 10 min) to tons of attractions. The Rose cottage is clean, comfortable & a great place to relax in the Irish countryside with tons of vibrant Ireland right nearby. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. It meant so much to us & our moms!
