“In a word, uncomfortable.”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

We had a regular room here, not a suite and nothing special like a jacuzzi in our overnight stay as we made our way across Michigan's upper peninsula. The feel was basic economy motel. The room was clean, as you might expect, and there was a small refrigerator and microwave. We would have rated the property as "average" if we had been able to get a decent night's sleep. The mattress felt lumpy. The pillows were hard foam; it was like laying your head on a rubber tire. When pulling up the blanket, it only came waist high. We thought at first we had been short sheeted! Upon investigation we found the blanket had been tucked half its length under the mattress at the foot of the bed.

The attached restaurant was closed. The desk clerk was hard pressed to tell us where else we might find dinner. We weren't told that a continental breakfast was provided. We probably won't stay here again even though we make this trip fairly often.

My boyfriend and I booked a room here when we went to a concert at Island View Casino. The casino was full so I chose this place. I picked a jacuzzi suite and the jacuzzi was probably big enough for three people. We had a balcony and a fireplace in the room as well. The room was super clean and the staff was very friendly. I wish we had more time to enjoy our room but it was just an overnight trip and we did spend most of our time at the casino. We had drinks at both bars and we had a great time. The breakfast the next day was decent there were scarmbled eggs and sausage. Which is better than the usual cereal bars most hotels have. All in all if we ever take a trip to Escanaba again I would stay here for sure. Oh and the bed was awesome. I wanted to take it home with me.

The room was a great price, and spotless. good, hot offerings with the continental breakfast, and the attached restaurant had terrific food. We didn't have time to use the pool, but it looked great. We were in town for two nights visiting family in the area. The hotel was easy to find, and a nice quiet area.

Not my favorite place to stay. The staff was nice but the room were not up to par. Nothing horrible - but small things like mold in the shower; needed new carpet and the beds were OK. It was well located. - 6 min. drive to the airport; 2 minutes to Subway; 3 minutes to McDonalds.

We were on a 2 week long driving trip through Wisconsin and Michigan. We were heading over to Mackinaw Island and had to stop in Escanaba for the night. We called this hotel because we usually have good luck with Best Westerns. And this is probably one of the best ones we've stayed in.
We were about an hour south of town when we called and just happen to get their last room for that night (due to a cancellation)! We were so lucky.
This is probably the cleanest, tidiest room we've ever visited. We have two small boys who are all over the floor and I wasn't worried about it here. You can tell the hotel is older, but the rooms are so clean and quiet. The staff was so friendly too. Every housekeeper we passed in the hall made a point to say hi and talk to our sons.
Their breakfast was very good - waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit, toast, potatoes. We didn't leave hungry (even our older son who can be very picky!).

If we're ever back in that area, we would stay there again.

Stayed here a couple of months ago, and when we went up to our room found the whirlpool torn apart and the room unusable. They immediately put us into another
room and gave us a discount (because the new room had no sofa!). On returning
home we received an email from the manager stating that they felt there hadn't been
enough recompense for the room and we were given a credit for a free night in a
whirlpool/fireplace room (which was the same as the original room). On both visits
we were greeted by a very friendly desk clerk, and everything was very well done.
The buffet breakfast was okay, not great, but what can you expect for free? It had
eggs, sausages, sausage gravy and bisquits (yum), hash browns, and fruit. The pool
looks great, but haven't had a chance to try it yet. There is a restaraunt onsite, and
a bar downstairs. Everyone is friendly and the room very clean. The beds are very
comfy - in all, we will be going back!
