Looking for a good Indian Restaurant not turned down to the American kitchen found Cumin in Kalamazoo, MI. Still not 100%, need to improve the Chana Masala, but have a very good variety in the lunch buffet. You can also order from the menu, as you can see the Somosas. Good variety of lassi, from mango to mint. Finding Roti in the buffet additional to the naan was a good indication of traditional Indian food.

Food is more like home cooking. Not your typical Indian buffet with all the same stuff. Delicious and the owner is right there and very ready to please. We go 1-2 times a week.

We stopped in Kalamazoo on our way to Chicago and decided to have supper at Cumin Indian Cuisine. Unassuming on the outside (its in a small strip mall), its not really big on the inside. We were a bit disappointed that the buffet wasn't on (its for lunch only) so ordered - - with the help of our waitress - - off the menu. Chicken Somosas, Garlic Naan, Punjabi Chicken, and Lamb Masala. All the food was FANTASTIC!!

Its the best Naan bread we've ever eaten - - thin and really tasty. The Lamb melted in your mouth.

On our return from Chicago, we made a point of stopping for lunch. The buffet was also really good (but didn't have any lamb dishes).

Highly recommended.

I recently discovered Cumin Indian Cuisine. I craved Indian food, but it was Sunday, and my other favorite Indian restaurant was closed. Cumin is open on Sundays! I don't know what was formerly in the space that Cumin now occupies, but there are booths and tables there, clean decor...very basic, but a great atmosphere.
The style of Indian cuisine is different than other Indian restaurants in town. Cumin's food is a tad spicier, and they can kick it up several notches if you want them to. The quality of the food is great, there's plenty of it (unless you have a huge appetite, plan to take a box or two home!), and the staff are very gracious and friendly.
Comparing Cumin to my other favorite Indian restaurant would be like comparing apples and oranges. Both are wonderful in their own right!!
