...the hubs and I spent a night at the Snowbird Inn this week and our only complaint was that we didn't stay the entire weekend. Lisa is a warm and inviting Innkeeper and made us feel welcome immediately -she gave us a tour of the Inn, recommended a wonderful local restaurant for us (and called to make us a reservation too -the Riverside Inn Restaurant in Leland) and pointed out the quiet walking trail leading to the Lake.
...our room was very nice, with a queen bed and a private bath down the hall, through another door (we walked in our PJs but there are bathrobes in the room), which we didn't mind at all -there were four other rooms booked that night and everyone was respectful of privacy. I would like to point out that like most B&Bs we've spent time in, there were no locks on any of the room or bathroom doors, but that's never been an issue and wasn't during this stay.
Lisa has an outside cat -Apricot- that greeted us as we came back in from dinner (in the garden outside) and a sweet inside dog -Juniper- that we only heard bark once to be let back in...we are very much 'dog people', but Juniper was quiet and not a bother at all, even during breakfast.
Breakfast! Coffee and tea were on at 730am SO the hubs and I curled up with our cups on a comfy couch downstairs to read while we waited for breakfast, which was served at 9am -Lisa served a delicious broccoli-cheddar baked egg dish with turkey sausage, cherry-cream cheese muffins, a local peach 'salad' and orange juice. Everyone at the table raved...delicious!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay...thanks again Lisa!

Thank you for your lovely review of our inn!

As of June 2012, we have installed locks on all of our guestroom doors--although most of our guests still seem to leave the doors open!

My husband and I stayed there three nights in September and had a wonderful stay. Leland is a great little town to visit and dine. Biking around Lake Leelenau was wonderful (15 miles round trip from the Inn). Breakfast was DELICIOUS! Service excellent. Great wi-fi for the TV junkie that needs something electronic. Location to all the area sites, wineries, park etc is perfect.
thank you!

Room Tip: ask for the attached bathroom

My husband and I spent two nights at the Snowbird Inn this past weekend and can't wait to go back! We went to Leland MI for a wedding and the Snowbird Inn was one of the recommended accomodations on the wedding website so I made a reservation. If you enjoy staying at B&Bs (i.e., you can forego a TV), you'll love the Snowbird Inn - it's definitely one of the best! Lisa was a wonderful hostess and her breakfasts were absolutely delicious! The "cherry walnut creme brulee french toast" and "gorgonzola/bacon quiche" were out of this world along with homemade cinnamon rolls, pancakes, local fresh fruit and french pressed coffee!! Our room was very large with a small (but more than adequate) ensuite bathroom with a large shower and pedestal sink. The house has been beautifully restored. As with most older homes, there is little soundproofing but that certainly didn't deter us from a good night's sleep. Lisa was also extremely helpful recommending local sites and providing directions. The local area is beautiful with many gorgeous lakes, sand dunes and quaint towns. Leland/Lake Leelanau is a great place to visit and the Snowbird Inn is THE place to stay!

This is a great place to stay. The rooms are huge, and the service is superb. We walked to the lake each evening, and loved sitting on the front porch for morning coffee and wine in the afternoon. It was so quiet and peaceful, yet so close to all the things we wanted to do in the area. We'll definitely be back!
