Like most things in Lansing, MI this Marriott location was dirty, dumpy, desolate and dated. I get it, I’m in farm country & am okay with that. Heck, I think my room was $106 at best!
But then there’s this....
As I was checking in, a local woman asked the manager a series of questions about their facilities as she was planning an event for her family. When asked if she could take some photos, she was promptly told no and that she could pull the photos off their website (photos, by the way, that don’t actually show the ramshackle conditions that exist here). I told the manager she knew this wasn’t true considering the existence of websites like Trip Advisor who promotes, advocates and encourages the posting and of said photos. She disappeared into her office saying she was calling her corporate office. I stood by for a short while, but then figured I didn’t have a dog in that fight and went up to my room.
I’m writing this now still curious if Marriott’s corporate headquarters gave the green light for this poor woman to take a photo of their breakfast area or pool. They would have bamboozled her into thinking something like this was off limits had I not been standing there.
Strange, sad and curious behavior, indeed. This staff needs to get better.
