“Camping with friends and family”

Ranked #1 of 4 things to do in Metamora
Attraction details

We have camped here a couple of times. This time we had one of the larger lake spots, so it was great. The campground is full every weekend, and the center sites get very crowded. Unfortunately a lot of people park way to large campers on smaller sites, giving a feeling of overcrowding.

The beach is beautiful and well maintained and there are great hiking trails.

I spent all of my summers here as a child and have wonderful memories. Close to Lapeer which is growing into a very cosmopolitan area.

Close to my home so I like the ease of which I can unload my kayak and paddle about. Great children friendly beach with tent camping area, camper area and they even have a cabin that sleeps 6 off away from the other campgrounds by the lake. Food vendor there in summer and they have kayaks & canoes you can rent by the hour. See loads of people fishing. No matter how packed the campground is it never seems crowded throughout the campground. Only down side to the lake is that its algae has gotten worse over the last couple of years. Not sure if this increases fishing or thwarts it. Perfect getaway from the suburbs, but you don't have to spend hours in the car getting there. Michigan park at its finest.

This camp ground is fully equipped with nice bathrooms and warm showers. Electric on site and pump stations available. There are even a few little cabins that you can rent. I have camping here for more than 30 years and would not even consider any other camp ground.
Family fun every weekend in October!

Come here a lot to bike ride and walk the trails. Nice quiet place. Gets packed every weekend during the summer because of how close it is to Metro Detroit area. Nice place to go swimming too. The do have a convenience store open during weekend hours
