“HORRIBLE!!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2012

Take it from me, DO NOT STAY HERE! The property manager is never at the site. The staff shouldn't be trusted, hot tub is the temp of the pool and I couldn't even imagine to describe the temp of the pool. On top of it the rates they charge for a room during the summer is through the roof. We went swimming and had to tell the front desk several times about the pool temp over the course of a two night stay and NOTHING was done about it. Take it from me, spend the extra money and get your money's worth and stay somewhere else!

Room Tip: STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! If you have to stay here, stay on the right side and towards the front of th...

The room was nice, beds comfy, nice TV. But if you planned to use the pool and hot tub, I would look elsewhere. We picked this hotel because it had a pool and hot tub as we like to break up the day by using those facilities. It was 6 pm. and when we went down to the indoor pool, there were no towels. My husband asked the front desk and was told, when the towels are out, thats it, no more towels. They said use your room towel. He said well, then what should I use for my morning shower, and she said you can get another one in the morning, Like we wanted to go find someone at 7am for a towel, not really. Anyways, so the pool water was a little chilly, and the hot tub was scalding. The button didn't work for the jets to move the water around, and I never felt water so hot in my life.
So other than the pool area, the hotel was fine.
The continental breakfast was good.

The Comfort Inn in Muskegon, MI, is better than most basic hotels. The hot breakfast includes omelettes and sausage, waffles and the other usual buffet. There is a outdoor pool in a garden setting. Our king room also had a sofa sleeper, refrigerator and microwave. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Be sure and try Dockers restaurant when you are in the area.

Convenient location, nice breakfast, helpful desk employees. Smelly room but seemed clean. Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. We would probably stay there again.

We had prepaid reservations for 2 rooms last weekend. We arrived very late. I am not that fussy, but one look and we were NOT staying. The manager was very nice, but I think something died in one of our rooms and the other room was a meeting room and the bed was a murphy bed. The whole place is dingy, run down and I suspect buggy. Their solution to problems is to spray air freshener. Truly a nightmare of a hotel , but there are few options in Muskegon. Thanks to my son's droid we were able to find other accomodations, but ugh, I still feel the need to de-louse everything. It doesn't even deserve one star.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel

Mold growing on the tub, poor air, dirty tired rooms, housekeeping lazy (could not stock the room properly in 4 days, no toilet paper, cup, soap, never cleaned the tub.) staff full of excuses and promises but poor on results. Every request needed several calls to for action and then they seldom did it right. Desk gave a key to a stranger who accessed our occupied room, scared my wife to death. Blondie on the desk was full of excuses on that one but no I'm sorry. Manager was a phantom, never saw him even though I tries to several times. What a nightmare. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Our two rooms were not serviced for the three days we stayed here. This is even below one star in terms of service. The few times I bumped into maid staff they were friendly, but I should have asked them to service my rooms, I guess. I just assumed this would be done at a Comfort Inn. I just assumed we missed service because we did not leave for the beach before noon each day, but by the third day...come on! No vacuuming, bed making, new shampoo, cups...they even sloppily rehanged our old towels from the floor rather than replacing them on the third day. Simply unbelievable.

Breakfast in July is CRAZY busy after 8:30 a.m., so wake up early or plan to wait in long lines. This hotel had one very friendly but absurdly overworked young lady in charge of cooking the sausage links and American cheese egg-ish omelettes (upset stomach warning) and restocking everything else. The owner/manager needs to add at least one more staff member for morning breakfast or expect to continue to receive poor ratings. There are certainly better hotels in the area, so for $50-$100 bucks a day the owner/manager could get better reviews. Foolishly cheap!

The location is very good, right next to highway 31. A classic beach is right at the end of Sherman Blvd., 10-15 minutes away. A 24 hour Wal-Mart is within walking distance in case you forgot to pack anything, or need snacks/drinks late at night. A very good Chinese buffet in right next to the hotel. Panera has a good breakfast and coffee right across the street. Wendy's. McDonalds, and Appleby's are very close by, within walking distance. Also one very good Mexican restaurant.

They have an outdoor pool, an indoor heated pool, and a hot whirlpool, in addition to a game room, which supposedly closes at 11:00 a.m.. Avoid room 222 and others off the game room if you want to get a good night's sleep. I was awakened the first two nights by late night 2:00 a.m. revelers playing pool and air hockey. On the other hand, it is convenient to call your kids back to the room from your hotel room window if you don't mind the noise. Ms. Pac Man machine and air hockey--cool retro!

Lastly, this is one of those joints that charges you $1.50/room/night for their safe fee (as if you would bring valuables to a one or two star hotel). Upon checkout, just ask the front desk staff for a refund, or ask them to delete this charge when you check in. I saved $9 rip-off upon check out for my 2 rooms and 3 nights--worth the 5-minute delay on checkout.

Very disappointing.. Comfort inn, you should degrade this hotel to Travelodge status or well below unless they get their act together. Gutterlodge?
