This is my 5th glorious stay at La Bastide in the past 10 years. Our group of 14 cyclists spent a week at La Bastide in Eygalieres and each day met and exceeded our expectations. The inn is charming and elegant, all the rooms capture the Provence style and comfort with gracious appointments and attention to detail in every respect. The meals were wonderful gifts at the end of each cycling day. Our entire group loved La Bastide's convenient closeness to quaint Eygalieres for an occasional meal and evening drinks. We enjoyed lounging by the pool after a day of riding and the great service and food in the dining room. La Bastide offers a tranquil respite from the grind of your everyday life. Finally we found the staff of La Bastide helpful, friendly and a perfect balance of attentiveness and privacy. There are lovely terraces to enjoy a late afternoon refreshment or just to sit and read and contemplate your return. I know I'll return again. It is hard to think of a criticism of La Bastide as I find it a perfect blend of a high-touch service petite resort and the joy of feeling, just for a moment, that you this is your own private Bastide.

In our 13 nights in France we stayed in 8 different hotels and La Bastide was the best! It is very similar to the Maison du Bournissac that is a few km away, but is a better value for the money! We had a great meal and breakfast there, the room was beautiful, the pool area was well taken care of and the staff was very friendly. If we return to the Provence area, we will return to this location! It has a nice central location for travel around the Provence area.

Elegant and peaceful hotel in the countryside near Le Baux and Saint Remy. {3 stars}

As we pulled up to the Bastide, at the end of a country road, we smiled - such a lovely welcoming place - an elegant country home set in a Mediterranean garden, with views of the Alpilles beyond.

From the moment we arrived we knew we'd want to return!

The big cool whitewashed rooms are air conditioned, but even in the heat of midsummer, we often didn't need it. The rooms look out over the gardens and beautiful swimming pool, and to the hills beyond.

The restaurant, too, is so inviting. We enjoyed a delicious lunch on the shady terrace.

The public areas are lovely - lots of provencal benches plumped with pillows, big comfortable chairs and couches, a grand piano beside the entry (I had been missing my piano, and played a bit of Beethoven when we arrived), a salon with books, games, and a big fireplace. There are walking paths, a trampoline and ping pong table, and a childrens' play area on the grounds - great for families.

Really gives the feeling of a big welcoming elegant family home.

Our double room was 90 euros, and the Bastide has a three star rating.
