“Good Value”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2011

Our basic two queen sized bed room was clean. The continental breakfast consists of doughnuts, coffee, and juice. There is a charge for ice. This motel is very close to the beach, only 15-20 minutes away from Taquomenon Falls State Park which is a Michigan Upper Peninsula MUST SEE! Basic, adequate motel.

Can't complain, it was average and over priced for the age of the hotel. But it was in the middle of the woods in the upper peninsula. The desk clerk directed us to a good local restaurant where I could enjoy my smoked and fried whitefish. We wanted to go to the Shipwreck Museum and Paradise had the nearest hotels.

We really enjoyed our stay at Paradise. The inn has a lot of charm, the service is very good and the quality of the food in the dining room is excellent.

The rooms themselves are a bit small. We stayed in the annexe and there really wasn't much space to walk around the bed which was pushed against the wall anyway. The shower wasn't great either. I suppose this is to be expected for the remote location, and not too annoying if you only stay a couple of days.

In any case, the environment (gorgeous mountains, hearty food, outside terrace...) more than makes up for this small drawback.

I went to motel because all other had no vacancies. Motel is still not updated since like mid seventies. Rooms are semi OK but there is some cigarette smell - probably because there are ash trays right outside so some smoke sips in. Breakfast is horrible. Bad donuts and coffee. I noticed that there is not many places online that even list this motel. (searched to leave this review). Prices for what you get are rather high.

Hotel is clean. They have cable TV now but not many channels. Beds are OK. Breakfast is skimpy. First place I've seen that charges for ice. (Strange considering its the UP of Michigan!) Good location at the main corner in Paradise. 11 miles to Whitefish Point and about the same to Tahquamenon Falls. Bar/restaurant across the street, other businesses within walking distance. Good place to stay for a reasonable price, no frills.

I was traveling at the tail-end of fall color season and this was the only Inn open this time of year. My room was clean and well-maintained, for $49 a night it was definitely a steal. Tv reception was horrible. Coffee/hot water in the lobby all day. My only complaint was that the front desk clerk was smoking behind the desk and talking to what seemed to be a friend who was hanging around.
I recommend stopping by the log cabin style bar across the road. Good bar food. Friendly locals to chat with.

There is the new fancy hotel up the road with the indoor pool and it looked very nice when we inquired about rates. However, I felt for the small amount of time we'd be here, it was not worth the price. So, up the road a bit is the Paradise Inn. It is an older, former chain hotel-2 floors. No elevator. Poor continental breakfast-they told us it would only have donuts and they did-with poor coffee and the donuts were bad! However, the room was large enough, the beds very comfortable, though the pillows could use improvement. Very quiet. Desk staff friendly enough, though I wouldn't say they were very professional. Clean. TV reception OK. Do need better lighting in parking lot as previously mentioned. Rates-mid range but I could not see paying $90 here in mid summer, that is for sure!
