“NO SLEEP”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2012

Our experience was horrible. The bed was as hard as a box spring set. When we requested another room (thinking that this was an unrenovated room), the front desk personnel answered that all of the rooms were the same. At 3:30 am, I had to chase two loud prostitutes out of the hallway. After a sleepless night, I found the "complimentary breakfast" to consist of biscuits and warm white water and dry cereal and room temperature milk.
Don't stay here. The lot is full only because people use it for a park and fly location.

Room Tip: If all of the rooms are the same, there isn't a good room.

The reason we chose this hotel was the really nice Park & Fly deal they had for 69.99 which included one night of hotel, shuttle to DTW and 7 days of parking (which we were promised was secured).

For the most part, this was a great deal as you'd pay almost that price just to stay overnight but to add parking on top of it really made it a no-brainer. The hotel itself was halfway-decent. I'd say it reeked of a late 80's / early 90's flavor of decor and quality. The staff was nice though which was appreciated.

The room itself was so-so. I wouldn't want to stay in it for more than a night. Very outdated furniture and amenities. It's almost a miracle that these types of rooms actually still exist considering you can stay at a brand new hotel for the same price if you're lucky to find one. They should be priced on a sliding scale of quality. However, it got the job done. The heat worked, the bed was ok and we were up the next morning ready to travel.

They did have a small continental breakfast which was pretty much the BARE minimum of what you'd expect. Nothing was particularly good and we probably threw out half the pastries/yogurt etc we took from the bar. In addition the breakfast was served in what seemed to be a bar/restaurant so the atmosphere wasn't extremely pleasant either.

What we did enjoy was the shuttle that drove us to the airport which picked us up after only a short wait. We left our car keys with the person behind the front desk and we were off.

When we returned we called to have the shuttle pick us up which they did. Brought us back and our car was returned unharmed. Whether or not it was stored off-site or in a secured parking area, we cannot confirm. We hope it was but as I said, *knock on wood* the car was fine so mission accomplished. We got our keys back from the front desk and were on our way.

For 69.99 plus tax, you really can't argue as long as your car comes back unscathed. We'd stay here again pending the price was still competitive.

I was sent out here when my flight was overbooked. All I needed was a decent sleep before my flight in the morning. This was not the case.

What's good?
The service: The staff was quite nice and helpful.
Amenities: The internet connection was decent. They had HBO.

What's ok?
The place is outdated and old, but the rooms were reasonably clean. Most things about this place looked ok, a bit cheap at times ($5 coffeemaker, super thin walls, styrofoam cups etc.), but I can't imagine them charging much either. It's meant to provide basic accommodation for the airport after all.

What's not so good?

The AC unit was old and loud. It was not possible to find the right setting (as it was manual without any temperature indicators). It was either blowing hot all the time, or not blowing at all. This alone made it impossible for me to get a decent sleep. I was feeling either too hot, or too cold. The noise from the AC was enough kept me up all night.

I rated this place poor since it failed to provide the most important service.

My husband and I stayed here one night before flying out the next morning. The room we stayed in was clean, that was the only thing it had going for it. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the hotel was loud--could hear doors slamming all night long. We used the park n ride and had no problems getting to the airport on time, picking our car up was a different story. It took 45 minutes to get to our car and three phone calls to the front desk. We were told the van that was picking us up would say Days Inn on it, which was not true, it said something different. We were extremely unsatisfied with the untimely manner in which it took for the shuttle to arrive and would rather spend a few extra dollars next time to stay at a different hotel. We also were charged for use of the safe, which we did not use. Seemed as though they were extremely short staffed. I would not recommend this hotel to family or friends.

We stayed just 1 night before flying out early the next morning. The room was clean, breakfast was good, the bed was very comfortable. Very quiet for being an airport hotel. We used the park n fly and the shuttle going to and from the airport with no problems. The shuttle was crowded but on time. Can't beat the price, it only cost us $10.00 more to sleep and fly than it would have just to park the car, great deal.

The hotel is in need of a serious upgrade. Our room had wallpaper falling off the walls, and the carpets had stains. The windows kept out the noise of the airplanes at the nearby airport, but the air conditioner sounded like a plane taking off. I do not fault the staff for not being helpful. They seriously look tired and overworked. They were as helpful as they should be -- but they also did not focus on customer service. We asked to check out a half hour later and they refused. After 2 nights we left the hotel when I found a discount internet site gave us a deal at the local Embassy Suites for only $15 more per night. But the difference was incredible. Only stay here if there are no other options.
