We just loved this restaurant. The wine list was good, with good matches for the dishes served. My appetizer was perhaps the best one I have ever had with smoked Wisconsin chub, topped with scallion pancakes, bok choy, thai basil and a mustard sauce with nuanced layers of flavor. So good it was to die for!!! It paired nicely with the prosecco we ordered. My entrée was slow roasted brisket with a ramp chimichurri sauce. The brisket was tender and juicy but still had some crispy meat on the edges. My wife had the lake trout roasted in brown butter entrée and it too, was fabulous. She had a wonderful sauvignon blanc from New Zealand with her dish and it was an excellent wine that matched the dish. This is an expensive farm to table restaurant but the service was great and the food and wine worth every penny, to us.

We tried the Cook’s House based upon a review we had seen. We called the same day and were able to get an early reservation. We ordered the seven course tasting menu with wine pairing. It was an exceptional meal from the chilled tomato soup at the beginning to the desserts at the end. The wine pairings were well thought out and went great with each course. It is a small intimate restaurant and the service was great. We will come back again. Thank you for a great night.

Cook’s house comes with a highly regarded resume and visits by such luminaries as Alice Waters earlier this fall, so we were expecting the sun, the moon and the stars. However, we did note some less than stellar TripAdvisor reviews. Our experience was enjoyable but not over the top. The room is a bit small and rather noisy with about a dozen tables. Service was good. Our meal was pleasant, not exceptional. The amuse bouche, a kind of hush puppy with marvelous whole grain mustard was a most delightful entre to the meal, but our soup, the white bean with trouffle was a bland not overly flavorful puree. We followed that with the mushroom salad, with kale, pig’s ears and carrots. It was interesting but the flavors not that well blended and again missed the mark. For our entrée we shared the white fish with Carrots - Radish - Pea Shoots - Sesame Seeds. It was indeed well prepared, but again, not over the top. At that point, coupled with two glasses of rather pricey red wine we were full and did not try dessert. We enjoyed ourselves, but were left somewhat disappointed. The next evening we ate at Bleu in Glen Arbor and had a much more memorable experience.

Had to walk to the restaurant to get a reservation since the phone was never answered. Had the 5 course tasting menu, but felt the restaurant had been over rated or had an off night. My date's entree was overly salty and she could not finish the dish. When she brought up the saltiness the server blamed it on the sauce. Didn't mind the pace of service because of the delightful dinner companions. Too expensive not to be much better. Save money and have a better meal with a great view at Lobdell's teaching restaurant in the Hagerty Center.

This place is so cute! We celebrated our 20th Anniversary here, they greeted us with glasses of Cava. Pasta appetizer was very good. I had the brisket, my husband had the lamb - both were wonderful. From the outside it looks older and small - inside it's modern, with great service and food. Will be back.
