I'm a frequent traveller a stay in many hotels here and all over the world. This 3 day experience for my wife and I's 15th anniversary had to be the very worst I've ever experienced... Worse than Alexandria Egypt or any other 3rd World country.
Our first room here (#118) at Knights Inn, the bed was banana shaped, see pictures. You didn't fall in the middle, but shifted 90 degrees so the the caved in center went out the sides. The mattress obviously worn out and hard like it was full of rocks. Carpet was sticky, mis-matched carpet patching, hot water faucets hard to turn, it smelled damp and musty, like living by a swamp.
We were tired from driving all day so we felt with it. I should have known it right then and moved hotels, but my wife did it and I didn't want to run over her plans. Next morning I went up front and the morning guy understood and gave us a different room with a marginally better bed, but still the wet swampy smell (#111). 2 more nights of fitful sleep, the mattress killing my back and shoulder.. I met with the assistant manager to ask him to come with me to see the first room, but he was unwilling. When I told him I'd wait, he said someone else already rented the room.... WHAT??? I showed him the pictures of the bed in the first room and he said "not my problem"
So, this stay at Knights Inn Traverse City, MI will never get my business again. Or any other knights inn anywhere. I've traveled over 100 nights a year and I've never had worst service, worst bed, worst room EVER. I try to be kind and understanding, we're all just people trying to make a living.. But when you get a snotty attitude, no offer of money off or consideration for anything, then your not in the people business.. I'm tired and my back hurts still from no sleep there. I hate that they're making me write this terrible review. Dan P.

The hotel is ok for the price, however the room stank so bad of stale cigarettes. Stayed here twice in the recent past and had the same issue so it was not just "one" room.

The pool is nice and has chairs.

We were traveling through the area and needed a place to stay for 1 night. Based on previous reviews about how clean the place was, we decided this would be a fit. The desk clerk checking us in was nice and pleasant.

When we arrived in our room it looked ok. Then, my daughter decided to take a shower before bed -around 9:30. She didn't even get a chance to wash her hair before the water was at her ankles as the water was not draining. My husband went in to investigate and could not resolve the issue so he called the front desk. The same man who checked us in came to investigate. He could not resolve the issue and said he would call maintenance. Twenty minutes later he called back and said he could not reach maintenance and offered us a discount or to be moved to another room. At this point is was almost 10:30 and we had had a long day and decided to forgo another room and take the discount.

Then, my husband made the mistake of taking off his socks and walking around the room. He noticed the bottom his his feet were black. He washed off his feet and walked around the room again. The more he walked the darker the bottom of his feet were. And he wonders why I wear socks and flip flops in hotel rooms.

Currently they are not doing a breakfast due to Covid but our reservation showed a free breakfast. The motel we stayed at the night before also had stopped doing a breakfast buffet but instead gave out bags with a muffin, fruit, and a beverage. Maybe they should consider this also or not have a free breakfast on the reservation.

I would not stay here again nor recommend it.

Staff was friendly but there was no Wi-fi and Charter was out so no TV and it says breakfast but all they had was coffee. beer caps against the wall from previous people so wondering what else has not been cleaned.

I booked a different hotel. When we arrived it was dirty and no one was to be found for 15 minutes. I cancelled on the spot. We started to call around. The gal at the Knights Inn was so friendly over the phone, that we decided to check it out. Kayla,the front desk attendant was AMAZING!! She called our room about 30 minutes after we checked in to make sure everything was good, she brought my 2 grandkids extra towels and candy after swimming in the newly opened pool. Kayla is the reason we chose this hotel. Her exceptional customer service is the reason we would stay again.
