Description: Est. 1932, Traverse City's 2nd Oldest Tavern, started as a hot dog stand with curb side service, outdoor seating, annual ritual of making sauerkraut, and a Speak Easy in the basement. One evening the owner was held up by a couple of Capone’s men, warning him he’d better get his liquor from Capone or else! They were chased off by an employee who was able to sneak to his truck and get his shotgun. Located in the heart of “Little Bohemia” the original owner named it in honor of the Bohemian community; expansions in 1933 and 1947 made it an icon and a premier destination in the city’s West End District. It also basks in the glory of Sir Walter Hagen. The golf legend made a daily stop to “hold court”, play bumper pool and have a few drinks. He lovingly referred to it as his “home away from home.” In 1961, Arnold Palmer won his 1st British Open win; he received a “congratulations” call from Walter Hagen; the call was made from Little Bohemia. Stop by and take in some great local history!

We had driven by Little Bohemia many times but it was never the right time to stop until yesterday. We knew we had to try their signature Olive Burger and the Perch. Both were outstanding. The french fries are particularly good and do not skip the cole slaw, just the perfect amount of sweet and tangy!

However, the highlight of our dining experience was not only the food...but the history of the place, lovingly outlined on the back of the menu by Nancy (one of the owners). She was also our server, so we got a first hand account of how she rescued the Nelsonville Block bricks from Front Street and placed them just outside the front door. Fascinating story, which meant a lot to my husband, who attended Ohio University, where sidewalks were paved with Nelsonville paver stones.

Oh, and don't leave without trying dessert. We caved in and shared the cherry bread pudding. Amazing! Next time I want to try the Carrot Cake.

Thank you so very much for your kind and awesome review! We are so very pleased that you loved our Famous Olive Burger and our Perch and loved that you "caved in" and had the Famous Cherry Bread Pudding. Your comments on the fries and coleslaw are so very cool, items most often over looked. You were a treat and a pleasure to serve and we loved hearing and reading your comments on the Nelsonville Bricks; really cool! We love our history and we try to preserve it as much as possible. Thank you again and we look forward to serving you again real soon!

Loved this historic tavern. My favorite places anywhere I've traveled are the family owned, down to earth ones where you can be yourself and feel at home. The Bloody Marys, craft beers, Olive burger and beer cheese were Awesome! It was such a pleasure to meet you Nancy and look forward to seeing you next time!! TCB!!!

Had dinner here in early September. Had one of the best if not THE BEST Olive burger I have ever had! Very good craft beer selection and awesome service. Love this old style joint. We will be back!

Great stroganoff ! Wife had a turkey sandwich! Was something that we haven't done for awhile. The only downside was that they only take cash.

What a great place to eat!!! And the kindest owner ever. We arrived for a late lunch just after the tavern closed prior to dinner. We were so disappointed because we had heard about the famous "olive burger". This restaurant was featured on The Food TV network. The owner fired up the grill and made us the best burger we have ever eaten. She was so friendly and told us so much about the history of the Tavern. We enjoyed it so much we returned (on time!) later in the week. In the evening, there was a Celtic group who played some really good music. Another must is the cherry bread pudding. Love it.
