Lakeshore Bed and Breakfast

We stayed at the Lakeshore to celebrate our anniversary. It was a splendid stay--we stayed in the Presidential suite, which is truly amazing. The views are remarkable, the friendly service of Jackie and Dan are great, and the house is quite impressive, especially the presidential memorabilia there. A museum-quality collection. We spent our time on the lakeshore enjoying the sun and sand and water. The beach was beautiful and almost empty, which was great. The water was perfect, the beach amenities provided by the B and B were excellent, and the experience was splendid.

My only complaint is the breakfast, which was fine, but . . . for almost $400 a night, after taxes, I had assumed we would get a remarkable gourmet breakfast. We got great granola and muffins, but all self-serve. Granted, it was a good continental breakfast, and eating it on the deck overlooking the lake was wonderful--I had just expected something different. Other B and B's at which we have stayed (in this price range) have offered "breakfast experiences" as part of the package. On the other hand, other B and B's at which we have stayed have not had the views this one has. So the view, the beach, and the wonderful house is what we paid for. Breakfast is not why one should come here.

The Presidential suite is quite impressive--it is elegant, luxurious, and fun. The giant whirlpool tub with the oil lamps, complementary sherry, steam-shower, and private deck were all much appreciated. It was a delightful place to camp out for a couple of days. It was pretty light in the morning, however. If you want to sleep in and sunlight in the room bothers you, bring eyeshades. Of course, one of the reasons for this is the skylight above the tub, which is a great thing.

Overall we had a wonderful time there. If you plan to be at the lake, enjoying the sun and sand and water and views, this is a great, if not economical, choice. It is expensive, but for us on our special occasion and our desire to have a wonderful suite with peaceful million-dollar views, it was excellent. And Jackie and Dan are delightful hosts.

Room Tip: The Presidential suite is much nicer than the other rooms--get it if you can afford it.

We got married in the back yard over looking Lake Michigan on July 4th. It couldn't have been better. The yard is absolutely beautiful, the views of the lake were stunning and the weather was perfect. The room was very very nice, the views were awesome. Dan and Jackie were the perfect hosts, they made sure we had everything needed and respected our privacy. They were very accomodating and even were the witnesses for our wedding!! We'll definately visit again.

This is one of the best B&B's we ever stayed at. The atmosphere and decor is great. If you're looking for a relaxing quiet get-a-way this is the place. Dan and Jackie are so gracious and thoughtful. The beach area is a beautiful setting as well. The whole place inside and our is very clean and well maintained. Thank you Dan and Jackie!

My wife and I want to Lakeshore B&B for a night away. We were amazed with the facility, the decor, and the room. Best continential breakfast I have ever seen. We had homemade bread, homemade granola, fruit, yogurt, eggs, juice, coffee and more.
Thanks Dan and Jackie for a great relaxing time.

Wow, what a great place! Dan and Jackie were so accommodating. We came to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and it was great. The B&B has the most stunning view of Lake Michigan and a private beach to enjoy! We loved taking walks at sunset and even having coffee in the morning by the lake watching the eagle fly by! What a special place. We will be back again!

Not being a B & B person by nature and normally much more comfortable with a quality hotel when we travel all over the world, I was suspect of how I would find this experience of sharing some stranger's home. I shouldn't have been. Our hostess, Jackie, made us feel like more then just paying guests, even checking up on us while we were in-route to be sure we were on track like an anxious parent. Finding Lakeshore B & B (particularly at night) does require either a good GPS or having Jackie talk you in the last few miles but it was certainly worth it! A breathtaking view of Lake Michigan and the very comfortable "Ford Suite" made for a delightful stay. The beach below the house is clean and inviting (you have to negotiate about thirty steps to reach however which is also breathtaking but well worth it!) . We liked the location of Lakeshore also. Situated six miles south of Grand Haven, we could buzz into town for an excellent dinner at the Grill Room of the Kirby House, see the sights, and then beat it back to the privacy of this lovely estate for a glass of wine on the private patio on the top of the bluff. The next time we will probably opt for the "Presidential Suite" with a private balcony overlooking the lake and pay the extra bucks but I think it will be worth it. Overall, Lakeshore B & B is not inexpensive, however I thought it was worth every penny. Complaints? None. If you are interested in having a special and lasting experience on Lake Michigan it is not to be missed!

This was exactly what my wife and I were looking for (Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary). The owners could not be more hospitable and pleasant. There are not many places that offer the view and exposure to the Big Lake in this area that Lakeshore B&B does. As continental breakfast go - we were very satisfied and pleased with all the options that were offered. Downtown Grand Haven is less than 15 minutes north and offers all kind of entertainment from morning to night.
But most of our time was spent on the beach and in the water right at Lakeshore.
We had a fabulous time and cant wait to go back.
