This was our first stop on our "Triple D" weekend up north in Minnesota. It happened to be double cheeseburger "special" day, so how could we refuse? Fresh juicy patties, crunchy or grilled onions, wonderful cheese, and pickle slices. Regular size fries were more than enough and with the malts, we were in heaven.
We visited the North American Bear Center in Ely, MN later and visited with Scott Edgett, one of the directors. When we mentioned Gordy's, he asked if we had the fish sandwich. He rolled his eyes, so it meant a return trip before heading home.
OMG, 4 fillets stacked on a bun with lettuce and tartar sauce on the side! We ended each using 2 in the sandwich and boxing the other two to eat at home.
We are so glad patrons convinced Guy to visit, we intend to do day trips with the grand kids next summer! 140 miles one way is worth the experience of days gone by.

Another great meal at Gordy's after a long day on the road. The burgers can't be beat but the fish & chips come close! Of course we couldn't leave without blackberry shakes to go. The portions at Gordy's are huge so it's fun to order different things and share. I only wish we lived a little closer. Looking forward to next time already!

We stopped at Gordy’s on our way home from Duluth and it was well worth the detour! The Double Bacon Cheeseburger was amazing! Good size, quality ingredients and the taste was excellent. We also had the fries, onion rings, cheese curds and a Oreo Shake. Gordy himself took our order and the food was ready in about 5 minutes. Lots of character at this old school family drive in. I highly recommend stopping if you are Up North.

My favorite is the fish sandwich...lots of fish on it. Burgers are good and they also have a really good chili. Fast service even when they are super busy.

It is a fun place to eat. My 12 y.o. got a great idea of what a drive in burger place was like. He loved the burgers so much we had to stop on the way back from our northern MN trip, too. A word to the wise, don't order the wild rice burger thinking it is a nice, healthy alternative to the usual burger. I did, and it is actually a fried patty of rice, but you wouldn't really identify it with wild rice...all fried up looking like a hockey puck. Any way...lesson learned. Go all out and get the juicy burger and fries. We walked over to their ice cream and coffee shop after eating. Nice choices available in a cute up north feel of a shop. Oh, there are two bathroom places at the place. Across the parking lot is a stand alone bathroom with several stalls. On the restaurant building there is also a single bathroom. If you are travelling with someone who can't walk too far, it is nice to know about the single bathroom right off the entry area on the north side.
